Scroll 1 - Year of the Dog
"Tsukiko! Stop playing around, the elder will be here soon!" A Jounin Ikimono yelled. The man was tall and had long dark brown hair held in a low ponytail. He wore a Jounin vest and black fighting pants. The konoha symbol on his headband was on the left side of his head. A small girl with short wavey brown hair ending at about her shoulders was laughing while sitting on top of her younger twin brothers who were also going to be decided just as she was.
The Ikimono clan is a small clan that chooses their best fitting animal as a fighting partner. There last namy lyterally means 'animal'. The small girl, Tsukiko, stopped and stood up right infront of her father, along with her two other brothers. She was six, and they were five. Tsukiko had shoulder length wavey brown hair with sea blue eyes. She wore a female lilac fighting kimono with black short shorts underneith. She also had a large bumarang bone about the size of her on her back. It weighs about 60 lbs. When she turns twelve, she will get one larger that is as tall as her and weighs 120 lbs.
The twins each had brown straight hair clinging to their faces. The only way you could tell they were different was the fact that Kaiku had green eyes and Kaitsu had honey brown eyes. They each wore a male red fighting Gi, with red shorts ending at their knees. Kaiku's wepon was a sycle chane. A sycle is a smaller version of a sythe on a chain, allowing the user to throw the sycle then pull it back to them. Kaitsu's wepon was a two sided sythe. A staff with a sythe hook on each end.
A woman came out from between the trees smiling. She was 6 months pregnant with another set of twins. Tsukiko's family was so far like this:
Father: Kyoko Ikimono
Mother: Ayame Ikimono
6 year old Sister: Tsukiko Ikimono (Her)
5 year old twin brothers: Kaiku, and Kaitsu Ikimono.
4 year old brother: Yuichi Ikimono.
3 year old brother: Tori Ikimono.
2 year old brother: Ookami Ikimono.
So far Tsukiko only had brothers and was hoping to get twin sisters. The only other girl she had in the family was her mom, whome she loved very much.
"Mama!" Tsukiko cried in happiness running over to her. She hugged her around her colassle stomach and Ayame smiled hugging back as best she could. "Be careful Tsukiko, don't hurt your mother." Kyoko warned.
"I'm not hurting her!" Tsukiko said turning around and crossing her arms over her chest. Ayame smiled. "Now, now, Tsukiko, be nice."
"Yes Mama." She said calmly smiling at her mother.
Loud and jolly laughter was heard at the entrance of the small clearing. The children squeeled with happiness and ran towards the tall man. "Grandpa!" They screamed with joy. This man was tall about 6' 2", he had long white hair pulled in a low pony tail, his bangs were brushed to the side. His eyes were a shimmering purple filled with happiness and a child-like glow. He wore a male red Fighting Gi, the shirt was open reavealing his muscles. He looked to be around his mid 40's. Along with him, 40 other people were behind him, there to see their children, and relitives, get their animal choosing.
"Ah! If it isn't Ayame's and Kyoko's wonderful children!" The man bellowed. He was the Elder, but he wanted everyone to call him grandpa, though some called him elder still, he insisted on Grandpa.
Children started to form around him smiling and laughing. "Lets get started shall we?" He asked standing up. The children nodded and laughed with glee. "Well first, I would like to introduce our esteemed guests, The Inuzuka family. Inuzuka Tsume, Hana and their youngest, Kiba." Three people waved in the crowd as others clapped and welcomed them.
"Now, would the families and children that are not participating in the cerimonie, and eseemed guests, please sit in the tree to watch the matches." All obayed and jumped into a large tree that held them all.
Then The elder turned serious. "This is not a game. Those of you who are chosen to have an animal fight by your side, are having a privilage, and those who do not honor that privilage and do not take care of their animal, I will take it away from you." All the children gulped as they stood in a line. "Some will be givin an animal, others will not. You must fight me so I may determin what animal is correct for you. Those who are not fighting, please sit at the base of the tree. I will start alphebetically. Ikimono Aiko!"
Once the children heard that name they rushed to the base of the tree. Only a small timid girl with long blond hair in a messy braid stayed. She too wore a lilac fighting kimono, infact, all the girls were wearing that, and all the boys were wearing the male red fighting Gi's. It was tradition for all the children participating in the cerimonie to wear them.
"I don't understand Ma." Kiba said watching the fight. "What is this for?"
"Hm, I think its to determine which animal partner the children will be paired with, if any." Tsume answered.
"That is correct." Ayame said from beside Kiba. They both turned towards her.
"But, it is not only that, it is to determine weather or not the children are progressing in their studies, and if they should continue as a ninja, or a medical nin, or anything else." Tsume and Kiba nodded.
"Are any children of yours down there?" Tsume asked kindly.
"Yes, my little boys Kaiku and Kaitsu, they are five. And my darling daughter Tsukiko, who is six." Ayame was smiling down at Tsukiko as she was laughing while playfully punching the boy next to her, who was laughing also.
Kiba looked down at her, trying to get a good look at her face, but he couldn't.
"I'm, Ayame by the way." She stated reaching her hand over Kiba to shake Tsume's who smiled and accepted. "Inuzuka Tsume." Ayame tilted her head in respect but turned back to the fight.
They were already on the eighth person.
"Kiba, how old are you?" Ayame asked curiously. Kiba kept his eyes on Tsukiko, trying to see her face. "Seven." He answered calmly.
"My, seven." Ayame said smiling. "You must be starting the ninja acadamy soon."
Kiba smiled up at her. "Yeah, me and my dog, Akamaru, are going to learn to become elight ninja!"
Ayame smiled. "Tsukiko will be starting this year too."
Tsume looked at her curiously. "She will be a year younger than the rest of the children."
"Yes but she is advancing fast in her studies and is vey strong." Ayame said smiling at Tsume.
"Next we have, Ikimono Kaiku!" The elder shouted.
Tsukiko stood up and yelled as her brother ran towards the elder. "Go Kaiku!" Tsukiko's friend who was sitting next to her, pulled her down. Kaiku turned around and smiled at his sister.
"That, Tsukiko is so full of spirit!" A lady laughed from above the Inuzuka's.
Kaiku and the elder started fighting. His movements were swift and strong, he moved gracefully across the feild studying his oponant in the process. He shot his wepon ever so often landing it close enough so he can pull himself towards the elder for an attack.
The elder stopped him smiling. "We have our first hawk!" He shouted, everyone cheered from in the tree.
Kaiku smiled as the elder placed a small necklace around his neck with a hawk figurine on the end. When he turns eighteen he will get a tattoo on his chest with a picture of a hawk and the word "HAWK" in kanji next to it, as all the other boys would. The girls would get their tattoo on their back.
Kaiku ran over to his brother and high-fived him. "I've been waiting for this. Now, we have the second twin, Kaitsu!" The elder shouted.
Kaitsu jumped up and ran towards the elder. Tsukiko shot up. "Yeah! Go Kaitsu! Kick major butt!" Kaitsu turned around and smiled while holding a thumbs up to her. "I will! Don't worry!" He yelled back.
Kaitsu's movements were the exact opposite of Kaiku's, his were fast and furious, almost feline-like. He would pounce on the elder, not jump. He would use his nails to dig into the elders skin, holding him down for an attack. He seemed to like to scratch the elder a lot. The elder finally stretched his arm out and put his hand on top of Kaitsu's head holding him back while his arms flailed about. "The felines would be proud, Kaitsu! You are a cat!"
Kaitsu jumped up while screaming, "Yeah!" He too reseaved a necklace.
He ran over and pounced on his brother, in a hug.
"Ew, a cat." Kiba had his tounge stinking out and face contorted with disgust.
Ayame smiled and turned to her husband. "Wasn't your father a cat, Kyoko?"
Kyoko put a hand on his chin in though, then smiled. "Why yes, I do believe he was."
That shut Kiba up.
Thirty minutes passed and it was finally down to the T's. Ayame was clingling to her husband in aticipation.
The elder chuckled. "Now, we all know who comes next. Ikimono Tsukiko!" The tree bursted with aplause and laughter.
Tsukiko jumped up and sped over to the elder. "Are you ready Tsukiko?" He asked smiling.
"Damn straight I am!" She smirked at him.
His smile also turned into a smirk as they both jumped back and made space between eachother.
They both studied eachother, Tsukiko was the first to make a move, she hurled her boomarang bone at him, he jumped over it and sped towards her, she fliped back, kicking him in the face as she fliped. She landed in a crouched position hand raised catching her boomarang.
She then jumped up as the Elder brought his hand down where she would have been, creating a nice size hole. She jumped over him and lifted her boomarang bone up and ran the Elder swinging it trying to land a hit on him, all he did was block each attack, she growled in annoyance. She then stepped back and rammed the boomarang at the Elder, he just held it with his hands.
Then Tsukiko jumped up and placed her hands on the elders shoulders and did a handstand. Everything was silent as they watched the two. Tsukiko and the Elder stared eachother in the eyes.
Then Tsukiko swung her body down and moved chakra to her feet, she rammed her feet into the back of the elder, pushing off of him allowing him to fly forwards, she flipped and landed in a crouched position retreaving her boomarang and watching as the elder spun towards the tree. In the nick of time he flipped and his feet connected with the tree as he crouched on the trunk, Tsukiko gritted her teeth in anger.
The elder smirked and pushed off the tree hurling himself at the young girl flying towards her. He slammed her down, him lying with one arm across her they both stayed silent. Tsukiko's eyes shot open as she took the elders arm and flipped him behind her so he landed on his back, hard.
There was a moment of silence as the elder looked at the sky stunned. He then began laughing hardily and merrily. "I haven't seen one like you in over fourty years!" Tsukiko tipped her head back and looked at the elder as he did the same. Confusion was written all over her face. He chuckled flipping over and picking Tsukiko up, she held her arms aroung his neck and her legs around his torso as he supported her. "It is an honor to present to you, my neice, my wonderful niece, you are the first dog in this clan in over fourty years!" He laughed and all the other people screamed with joy shouts of. "I knew it!" were heard from the tree.
"What does he mean by. 'In over fourty years'?" Kiba asked looking at Ayame.
She looked down at him and smiled wide. "Well, you see, Kiba. Usually the clan who has dogs is the Inuzuka clan. But once every couple of years, there is a person who excells faster than anyone in the clan, that person is usually a dog, but it is very unusually to see it in the Ikimono clan. Its a rare honor to be a dog warrior in the Ikimono clan." Ayame turned back to her husband laughing happily.
Kiba looked down at Tsukiko who was smiling and laughing, he finally got a good look at her face, she was beautiful with her brown hair falling on her shoulders, blue eyes glimmering with joy, and the lilac fighting kimono complemented her well. He felt a small blush to his cheeks. "A dog, eh?" He said smirking.
