I look into your face
For the first time,
And I know it is
The last.

A face of shadows,
A tie of fate.
A chance meeting,
That brought us together.

I see not the
True face she shows,
I see behind it to
Despair
Disbelief
A life thread shortened.

Thirty,
Forty,
Fifty
years before its time
And time runs out.

Time that there should
Have been.
Tree branches that
Shouldn't end,
Futures that should
Exist.

Never to be,
Should be,
Wished to be,
A life fully lived.

Happiness,
Wishes,
Hopes,
Dashed at once.

Thin strings
False hope,
False wishes,
True friends,
True family,
True sadness,
True sorrow.
Unhealable scars.

Time does not erase,
but lessen.
