Introduction
Hi everyone, it's Kagome-chan with another chapter of Sakura 3nodding . Besides when I'm too lazy to say hi to the readers or when I might possibly be beaten over a cliffhanger, Yuji, Yuna and occasionally Reina come and open the chapter for me. But what if I open the chapter with a special interview?
I'm thinking that some fan of the story can help me open the chapter and ask the a character of their choice ((@_@ what in the world am I doing. . .))questions. It's like meeting your favorite character in the story whee !
I'll try to do this after the following chapter ((>_> wait. . . I mean the chapter after the chapter after this one.)), but I need to know all your opinion on this.
If it's (A)I like the idea! Who'll be the "interviewer"?
or
(B) You've completely lost your mind Kagome-chan - -.
I'm trying scream ! Just trying to involve the reader since the story is basically lagging. It's tough being a writer sometimes -._.-.
~A Morning with the Valentine Family, and Reina and Yuna’s Encounter ~
“So, what did you two do last night?” Reina asked Yuji over breakfast the next morning. He gave her a glare. “I don’t know what you’re thinking, but you’re wrong. I met her brother since her father is in a different city right now. Reina didn’t buy it.“Suuuurrreeee and I am actually part cat.” She said sarcastically as she put her breakfast plate in the sink.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if you were. You’re so stuck up like one after all.” Yuji muttered as he glared at the back of her head. The two were getting ready to go to school. Even though Yuji transferred to Meio, Reina decided to stay at their old high school Seishin Academy for the remaining semester. They both had to wear uniforms; the girl’s Seishin uniform was a navy blue with a red tie as the top and a matching short skirt along with knee-high socks and black dress shoes. While the Meio uniform was black with a red bow and yellow strips at the collar, cuffs, skirts, and sleeves. The skirt for the girls came to about mid-thigh and also had black dress shoes. For both schools the uniform for the guys had pants and long sleeved shirts.
She frowned. “Well you can’t blame me for being curious. The conversation you had with Mother wasn’t exactly innocent.” She protested as she sat down again. Yuji closed his eyes. “For one thing you aren’t curious, just nosy. And two- Yuna did that on purpose. We got caught in the rain when you called, so she let me borrow some of her brother’s old clothes she had left behind.”
Reina said nothing at this, but smirked. “Fine, you can tell me about your experience later. Oh, ohayo okaa-san,” she said with a complete attitude change when their mother walked in. She looked haggard and pale but still beautiful and young. Her hair was a chocolate brown- neither like her children with oceanic blue eyes that deep inside them were filled with sadness, and she wore a tired smile. “Ohayo, Reina Yuji,” She said as Reina handed her a cup of tea.
“Are you feeling any better this morning, Mother?” Reina asked concerned. Kagome only smiled. “I feel much better, thank you Reina.” Yuji only looked into his cup of coffee watching the steam rise. He knew that their mother was lying. In fact, she looked worse than usual, hiding her pain with a fake smile.
Their mother had come down with a serious illness when their father “died” or rather disappeared from existence. One day when the two were around ten he disappeared one night without an explanation, apology, or goodbye; leaving their poor mother in shock and despair. And because of this, Yuji despised and detested his father for abandoning his family. Even after all this though, Reina believed there was a logical explanation in why he left and that one day he’d return. But it had yet to happen.
Kagome noticed Yuji’s expression and automatically knew what he was thinking about. “So how was your day yesterday, Yuji? I didn’t see you since you got home so late.” She asked to change the subject. Yuji looked up. “O-Oh, it was alright. I got to meet Yuna’s Aniki.”
“Did you really, you haven’t met her parents yet have you? How was his attitude? Was it anything like yours?” This made Reina giggled at her mother’s question. A vein on the side of Yuji’s forehead appeared. “He was alright, and her father is too busy to see me.”
“What about her mother?”
“. . She’s dead. She was murdered when Yuna was little. So she’s basically been living alone since her father took her brother to help him with work. And her older sister suddenly disappeared.” Yuji answered quietly. “Oh, that poor child; it must’ve been hard for her.”
“She seems fine with it. And decided to put it behind her and focus on the present and the future,” Yuji said, “But what I don’t get it is their shady family line. Why would her father leave her alone? Why didn’t he accept Yuna as his daughter and allow her to live with him?”
“It’s their family matters, Yuji. Don’t get involved with it or you could get into trouble.” Kagome warned him sternly. “But Mother-“Yuji protested. “Don’t argue, Yuji. Family matters are best dealt with within the family. You could make a situation worse if you interfere.” Kagome told him. “G-Gomen, okaa-san,” Yuji apologized.
She smiled. “I know you’re worried about Yuna- Yuji. But she’s a strong girl. I can feel it. If she could withstand living alone then I’m sure she can feel the gap between her and her father.” Yuji returned the smile. “You’re right. I shouldn’t have doubted her.” Yuji stood up and picked up his bag before he moved to the door. “I’m off; I want to surprise Yuna by taking her to school.”
Kagome smiled again. “When did my son become such a gentleman? Alright, have a good day.” Reina smirked “I’m going to come with him, if that’s alright with you mother.” Yuji exploded. “What! Why-“Reina pouted. “I should be able to see my brother’s girlfriend. She could become my sister-in-law one day after all.”
“Very well, don’t cause trouble for them okay Reina? But keep an eye on them so Yuji actually goes to school.” Kagome said winking at her daughter. She grinned triumphantly and Yuji hung his head in defeat.
* * *
“Don’t be a pest,”
“I know.”
“And don’t be rude to her either.”
“I know,”
“And don’t think that because Mother let you accompany me to her house means that you can torture her like you torture me.”
“I know that. . .”
“Oh and-“
“WILL YOU PLEASE SHUT UP?!” Reina screamed at him. For the entire way to Yuna’s house he had been ranting her not to do this and that and it was driving her to the brink of insanity. “I’m sure your girlfriend is decent since she can withstand your constant ranting and presence. So I’ll ‘behave’ myself. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to be like a robot-“But Reina’s shouts faded as she stared in awe at Yuna’s “house”. To be truthful, it looked nothing like an average house but more like a mansion.
The house was a large white three-story house. A cobblestone path leading up to the two large double doors, a large fountain was in the middle of the pathway to the house. The grass was green with flowers decorating the lawn. And beyond the gate around the perimeter of the large house they could see a large and beautiful garden in the back of the house. In Reina’s opinion the house was breathtaking.
“S-S-She lives here?!” Reina asked in astonishment. Yuji was rolling around laughing on the inside, but kept a stoic expression as she pressed the intercom button at the large stone gate entrance. “Hello?” asked a soft voice.
“Hey Yuna, ready for school yet,” Yuji asked with a smile. He heard her yelp. “You’re actually going to walk me to school?! Oh gosh, if I knew you were coming I would’ve made myself more presentable-“she panicked. They could here her running around. He chuckled. “Just open the gate. I’m sure you look fine.”
There was silence before she muttered a “Fine,” as the large gates opened. Yuji walked up to the amazing house as Yuna greeted him at the door followed by Reina who was still looking around in astonishment. Her hair was slightly curled and she looked like she had been sprinting up and down her house. Yuji only grinned at her pout. If Reina wasn’t standing there he swore he would’ve lunged at her. “See, you look fine.”
She sighed. “Your kind would never understand.” She muttered under her breath. Noticing Reina behind him, she smiled. “Oh? Who is this Yuji?”
Yuji frowned, “This is my twin sister Reina. She talked my mother into letting her come with me to pick you up.” Yuna’s smile widened as she walked up to her and held out a hand. “Hello, I’m Yuna. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Reina was taken aback at her sudden cheerfulness and charm. “Er- Yea, it’s a pleasure to meet you too. I guess I should thank you for keeping my Baka Aniki in check. How in the world did he attract such a girl?” Reina asked obviously not understanding.
Yuna giggled as the vein on Yuji’s head popped again. He clenched his fists. “Reina- didn’t we have a talk about how you weren’t supposed to be a pest?” he asked trying to control his temper. She frowned. “I am. I’m just stating the obvious.” The two had a stare down. Yuna looked at Yuji then to Reina then found herself laughing again. “I can see how you two are related. You two act alike.”
“How do we act alike?” The twins protested at the same time. “Well it appears you both have tempers. And you act like siblings. I wish I had a sister like you, Reina.” Yuna said with a smile. Reina looked away with a blush. “Q-Quit with all the complements already; I still don’t understand how Yuji- a complete opposite of you- could get a girlfriend like you.”
“It’s because I’m a good person and that you’re just an annoying pest who asks too many questions.” Yuji said his eye twitching as he put her in a headlock. “Ow-Ow-Ow-Ow-Ow- stop it!” Reina yelped.
“Um, is there any chance we’ll be able to go to school?” Yuna asked over the two shouting. They stopped and apologized.
* * *
“So, you’re Yuji-kun’s twin sister?” Yuna asked interestedly as the three walked together. “Yea, what of it,” Reina asked confused at her question. “That’s what he told you- unless I somehow got lucky and not his sister why do you ask?”
Yuna giggled “I always wanted to have a twin sister. I basically just have an older brother who doesn’t live with me anymore. So I envy your life.” Reina looked away. “It’s not all that interesting. It’s actually a pain having a twin brother.” She muttered. “I’m sure it’s not that bad. You wouldn’t get lonely. You act like you’re the older sibling Reina-san.”
“Unfortunately, I’m two minutes younger than him. But the baka should’ve been younger by the way he acts.” Yuji’s vein popped for the third time that morning. “Urusai! I’m right here y’know!” Yuji growled at her. Reina ignored him. “To tell you the truth I’d much rather live like you do, Yuna. I mean you don’t have to deal with anyone else. And you live the way you want.”
“But it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Often you’ll find yourself lonely and without a purpose. But with an older or younger sibling to soothe that feeling of having no purpose you’re happy. Sure you fight often or seldom- but in the end you wouldn’t exchange that sibling for anything else in the world because they’re family.” Yuna explained. Reina looked down and didn’t say anything, realizing she was right.
“So are you going to Meio with me and Yuji, Reina-san?” Yuna asked trying to change the subject. “I’ve decided to finish up this semester at our old high school before transferring.” Reina answered shooting a glare at Yuji. “Really, do you do any extra activities there?” Yuna asked interested.
“Not anything in particular. I’m transferring anyway. What about you?” Reina said looking away. Like she wanted to say something but decided not to. “Well my passion at Meio is the art academy. I love art, and when I go to Blue Sky Academy- the college after we graduate from Meio in two years- I want to go into the field of art. I’m confident that I’ll be accepted. What about you, Yuji?”
“Nothing in particular; I don’t really have any hobbies.” He answered stuffing his hands into his pockets. Yuna frowned. “Really, nothing at all, you two definitely think alike.” Yuna said walking ahead of the two.
“Hey!” they protested together again. Yuna spun around to face them. “Let’s make a promise. That we’ll find each other’s hobbies and goals for the future this year,” The twins blinked twice and looked at her in confusion. “Since my hobby and passion is art- my goal for the future is to become a professional. And since you two don’t have a goal like that- let’s spend this year or even semester finding out that goal.”
Yuji sighed. “You’d get mad at me if I said no. Though I wouldn’t mind living without a goal.” Reina only nodded. Yuna beamed. “Then it’s decided. How about today if I’m not busy- you both come over to my house and we try to find something you’re both good in?”
“Sure, I won’t have anything better to do.” Yuji said shrugging. But little did she know he was thinking about very dirty things. Reina only glared at him sensing this. “For your sake I suppose I could stay for a few hours.” The three chatted before Reina turned towards her school and Yuna and Yuji were alone.
“I hope she wasn’t too annoying.” Yuji said using a more soft voice now that Reina was gone. Yuna smiled. “Not at all; I like your sister. I’m sure in the near future that we’ll become good friends.” Yuji smiled lightly at her cheerful attitude. “So why such a sudden decision in helping us find a hobby, Yuna?”
“I don’t want you two to spend the rest of your lives living out the rest of your lives without a purpose or goal. It means that life will go slowly for you. Appearing without an end, if you don’t have a goal that you’re working your way to it means you’re not living life to its fullest. And besides, it gives us something to do for awhile. Though I can’t help wonder what Reina was thinking about.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I don’t know if it was just me but she looked like something was on her mind. Like something was bothering her.” Yuna said troubled by it. Yuji wrapped an arm around her. “Don’t stress over it. She gets like this when she meets someone new. Besides- she worries about our mother almost every waking moment.”
“Your mother, what’s wrong with her? Is she sick?” Yuna asked even more concerned now. “Well, if you put it that way. It’s more like she’s in shock. You see, our father disappeared when we were little. He abandoned us. And after that our mother’s health plummeted greatly. And because she worries herself constantly worrying and wondering if her husband would ever come back to her or if he’s even still alive she’s extremely sick. She could probably die any moment now. If you look into her eyes- you could almost see the sadness inside of her. It’s like she’s half-alive. She tells us everyday not to worry about her and that her health is improving- but it’s not getting any better.”
“I see. I’m so sorry Yuji. She must still be so much in love; but is in so much pain emotionally that it’s affecting her physically. I’m sure- wherever your father may be that he’s thinking about you guys every waking moment-“
“Don’t about him like he’s a great person!” Yuji growled, startling her. He realized this, and looked down. “I’m sorry. But I hate him being mentioned. I bet he abandoned us on purpose because he hated us.”
“That’s not true! I’m sure that there’s a logical explanation that he left-“Yuna protested. “There isn’t any excuse that he left our mother and abandoned us! If he truly cared- he wouldn’t have left! But he did- and I won’t ever forgive him. Because I know that he’ll never return. He left us to die.”
“Yuji-I know how you feel. The feeling deep inside you; how you hate your father for leaving you alone, abandoning you. But if you give into this feeling- the darkness inside your heart will consume it- and you’ll be lost forever.” Yuna said her voice rising in volume. She clasped her hands over his. “Please, try to remember the good times with your father, and try to put yourself in his shoes.”
“So what you’re saying is that I should forgive my father for leaving my mother and us all these years?” Yuji said gritting his teeth in frustration. “I’m not saying that! You don’t have to forgive him; just don’t let your hate cloud your judgment. That’s all.” Yuna explain to him and squeezed his hands tighter. Yuji sighed and gave her a squeeze back. “Have a little more faith in me Yuna. Just because I don’t exactly have a good relationship with my father doesn’t mean it’ll cloud my judgment.” and he started to walk towards the large Academy that could be seen over the trees.
Yuna smiled and pretended to pout. “What makes you think I didn’t have faith in you, Baka Yuji-kun?” she asked him as she caught up to them. And the two’s frustration diminished.
