~~~~~Ch. 2 Any More Interesting~~~~~
After escaping the covers of the bed, Felisha is face-to-face with a mirror. She stared at her reflection. "Is that me??" She was apparently not in the clothes she started in. She was wearing a loose, short sleeved white cotton blouse, stretchy black shorts that clung to her skin, a light green skirt, ending just below her knees with long slits down the side. Felisha cocked her head to the side. Then the other. She twisted and turned, trying to get the full view of herself in this new outfit. She smiled to herself and took a look around the room.
She didn't see too much. Most of the stuff was just small trinkets, but some others seemed important. There was a clay cat, painted black and gray, and a there were two stacks of books, each about a foot high. When Felisha looked at the titles of the books, even though there were in a different language, she could still read what they said. Some titles were "Book of Knowledge: Volume II", "Mylona: Woman of the Wind", and "Werfing for Idiots". Felisha frowned. "Who come I know this language?", she thought.
Felisha found a pretty necklace with matching bracelets hidden in a drawer nearby the bed. The necklace was a thick black choker that had a tear-shaped green gem encrusted in the middle. The stone sparkled in the sunlight and it made Felisha a bit sleepy. The bracelets looked the same but but were smaller. She put the jewelry on and walked over to the door. Her hands reached for a doorknob but it grasped only air. Felisha noticed that there was no doorknob and pushed against the door. It opened easily. She walked out into a hall with a rug and little paintings hanging from the walls. She dragged her hand across the wall as she walked down the hall. The hall wasn't really long, so she accidentally ran into the door at the other end of the hall. An sweet aroma wafted through the cracks of the door. The smell reminded Felisha of breakfast, so she eagerly walked through the door.
On the other side of the door, A woman was cooking at a stove while a man was seemingly reading something that reminded Felisha of a Flintstones newspaper. When she walked in, the man looked up at her. The man looked to be about 40 years old. He had black hair and a beard. The beard wasn't long but it was much longer then any man Felisha had seen. His beard was getting gray too. His eyes were a greenish-hazel and almond shaped. He was wearing what looked like a peasant's clothes, which were a brownish-gray tunic and brown breeches tucked into leather boots. His ears had a point at the end, like an elf's. Felisha stared at the ears for a little while, confused.
"Look who's up," The man's voice boomed. Felisha blinked. The man wasn't speaking in English, but she understood what he said. " Weird..."
The woman then turned around. She had long hair which was more reddish then the man's, and her eyes were bigger and greener. She looked about 35 or so, and she wore a bluish-gray dress with a white apron. They were hardly visible but she also had on a pair of light brown boots. She also had elf ears. "Good morning, honey. How are you feeling? Do you have a headache?" The woman asked, stirring a pot with a wooden spoon.
Felisha blinked and shook her head.
"Good. We were worried about you, Felisha,"
"Yeah, when we heard you passed out, your mother almost passed out herself." The man said, smirking.
"I never did that."
"I never said you did, honey"
Felisha pulled out a chair and sat down. "Oooookay, I have never seen these people before and yet they act as if they've known me forever. What gives? And how do they know my name?" She closed her eyes. "Well, the man said 'your mother almost fainted', maybe...They're my parents?....No, neither my dad or my mom have elf ears!!" Felisha reached to scratched behind her ears, but her ears where not round anymore..."What the crap?" She reached for her other ear. It felt just like her other one. Felisha blinked.
The woman, her supposed mother, placed a spoon and a bowl in front of her. She then took the pot and spooned some spoonfuls of what looked like hot, peach colored mush. "Eat up, you've been asleep for a few days, and you need to hurry over for your werf training."
"Training? Werf?" Felisha asked, blowing over the bowl to cool down it's contents. Her hand shot to her mouth. She wasn't speaking english either... Confused, she then used her spoon, dipped it into the bowl, and sipped. Despite it gross appearance, it actually tasted pretty good. She went ahead and repeated the process.
"Y'know, it's where you go almost every single day since you've been 12. It's at the top of the hill in the castle where you can see over all of this town from the watch tower." Felisha's "father" said, teasing.
"Ok ok, sheesh, I get it." Felisha rolled her eyes. Even if they weren't hers, parents were weird. "So should I head over now then?"
"You should," Her "mom" said, "You said you would meet Lia over there." She gave Felisha a kiss on her forehead and and took her half-empty(or half-full) bowl and put in in a sink.
"Uuuh...Right." Felisha said, wondering who Lia was. "Do I need to bring anything?" She got up from her seat and pushed her chair in.
"You don't need anything but you're late as is! Come on, honey, hop to it!" Her "mom" pushed Felisha to the door.
"I ain't hoppin' anywhere." Felisha said but let her self me push out the door. " 'Bye," She says and she closes the door behind her. "Well, that was odd," Felisha thought as she looked around to see if she could find the hill. She saw a large building built like a small castle sittin uptop a hill. She started walking up to the castle and soon broke out into a run. "Could this day get any more interesting?"
