I used to work in apartment management. I've been called names right to my face and had to call police on people. Granted when you are evicting people for long term non-payment of rent they tend to get a bit uppity. Go figure.

But anyway back to the lying. When I started the job I gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. My building owner was a total cynic and used to have a House MD attitude when it came to tenants and that is that they LIE about everything. Soon, I realized that they absolutely DID. They lied about the stupidest tiny s**t and worse the things that were OBVIOUSLY lies. As in I could hold proof in my HANDS and they'd look me right in the eye and claim that proof though in my hands did not exist and was a figment of my imagination.

One time after doing apartment inspections we found an apartment where the stove hood was charred black and the appliance paint was burned and peeling off of it and the walls in the kitchen were black to gray with soot. This of course indicated that there had been a fire, one high enough to TOUCH the stove hood.

The guy lied right to me saying "We've lived her a long time my wife just uses the one burner." Dude, my parents have lived in the same house for 15 years. and my mom's stove hood is not burnt. Clearly a lie.

Well weeks later I get a call from a concerned tenant that there is smoke billowing out of their apartment and fire alarms are going crazy. I walk out on to the second floor balcony (the office and my apartment being the same and on the second floor) I see the lady out on the causeway/balcony with a big a** pot with charcoal briquettes in it and a grate and some meat over the briquettes.

She had been Slap dash BBQing ONTOP of the stove.

Gee I wonder how that whole burnt stove hood might have happened.

In alot of ways moderating is exactly like these instances. I often have cold hard proof, show it to the person and they will say "nope, fiction!"

And THEN sometimes they will go post and perpetuate a lie, in the forums of their wrongful punishment. BUT because of confidentiality I can't say anything. I can't post the side by sides or animations of layovers somone sent me of the art so and so stole...so they get to go on claiming that they are NOT ART THEIVES OMG! or whatever meanwhile I know they are liars.

Sometimes I wish so much that I could even JUST say "You know what you did, you know what you told me and the evidence I provided you with, so just stop."
