AhiruTwin's Ramblings and Rants
I love to talk about something that I realy like in long, elated sentances, so watch out! I'll pretty much talk about anything from books to movies to food. ^_^
Scrooge-like Thoughts
Why is it that everyone is going Christmas crazy already? I simply do not understand this one bit. stare

One, it's not even freakin' December just yet. I don't want to see a Santa hat for another few days or so, else the holiday be spoiled my the huge amounts of holly-covered advertising on a stick. Seriously, Christmas sales after Thanksgiving?

Two, not every songle person on this Earth is Christian. Ever had that thought cross your mind? I happen to be half Jewish and half Christian and I celebrate both Christmas and Hannukah. For crying out loud, I would be less angry about this Christmas explosion if there were other holiday products available or decorations in buildings. Why, my neighbors already have their tree up and my orthodontist has her whole building drapped in Christmas everything! I've yet to see menorahs around.

Three, I am thoroughly puzzled as to why people already are asking whether I've naughty or nice this year. Um, am I in jail? Do I have a bolt through my nose? Am I setting anything on fire? No. Leave me alone, thank you very much.

I like Christmas, I really do, but when people are parading it like this I get sick of it before it comes.

Bah-humbug,
Kylie

PS: How does one go from birth of a savior and rejoicing to boxes with colorful bows and scented candles? confused

Because, like Easter, stores and any other advertising companies use holidays to assciate with something of profitable value and put up "sales" so people will buy everything in their stores when it nears said holiday. Saint Patricks Day is no longer about a saint or wearing green, it's about beer (beer sales go up). Easter isn't about the ressurection of Jesus, it's about a rabbit giving out candy and leaving eggs (plastic eggs, chocolate, and jelly bean sales go up). St. Valentine's isn't about another saint anymore, oh no, it's about giving chocolates, little cards, and flowers to your special someone (chocolate, Hallmark cards, and flower sales go up drastically). Thanksgiving isn't about giving thanks about what you have, it's about football, Masey's parade, and a history lesson (turkey sales, electric bills, history lessons, and pumpkin pie sales raise the roof). Halloween is no longer about evil spirits and mischief anymore, no, it's about wearing plastic costumes and giving candy to little kids who expect it (candy, costume, and black make-up sales are off the charts). Finally, Christmas is no longer about the birth of Jesus, oh, no sir, it's about some fat guy sneaking into people's houses and giving them things without robbing them except for their milk and cookies. (wrapping paper, boxes, cookies, milk, and green and red item sales soar).

Doesn't that just give ya a warm, fuzzy feeling?
