Evil lurks in the heart of a good man
Like a dormant seed in a barren land.
Seasons pass with no foul deed detected.
Then comes a storm of temptation,
The soul is infected.
Lust or envy, greed exploits weakness.
The path to destruction starts with one act.
Judgment is clouded, desire unrestricted.
Obsession becomes normal as appetite drives.
Pride stifles conscience, consequence ignored.
The deed becomes easy as guilt is assuaged.
Relativism rules – who are you to judge?
There’s no good or evil, this Darwinian struggle.
God is not there or, at best, He’s blind.
“I’ll be my own judge, look after yourself! ”
Like Icarus and Babel, this ends in disaster.
