Welcome to the dark place.
Erigion turned back to his window.
on the ledge was a small drake, with a back pack.
"hello little one" he said to it.
eris hopped onto his table and sat down, erigion had gone to a cupboard and found some thing for it to eat. he fed it some bread and a little cheese, then removed the letter from its tiny home on the drakes back.

upon reading it he began to pack things at once, it was clear he and stroud needed to meet and soon, he would leave tonight. a reply was not needed he intended to be there by morning if not sooner, he glanced at his pocket watch it was 26:17.
"just under 4 hours...a horse won't cut it" he said to himself.

he grabbed his sword and staff and slung them over his shoulder, even though he was a priest, he wasn't stupid he knew that weapons were needed to battle the things he dealt with, not just sin..oh no there were far far darker things out there, SHE was the darkest and most evil of them all. making sure he had everything he went over his gear in his head.

staff..check,food..check,book of manacraft..check,his summoning horn..check, Irkalla, his blade.check!
he glanced at the tiny drake on his table.
"you may leave at your own pace small one" he said to it.
eris acknowledged this and curled up in a ball and went to sleep.
erigion hurried up the steps leading to his roof, he looked back once more at his home, it may very well be the last look he'd ever get.

he stepped out onto his roof and looked over the city scape. it had began to rain a little...it was about to get much worse, he took out his horn and with one breath blew the mightiest of sounds.
it rang on for what seemed an age. then finally it stopped the whole earth was quiet almost as if it was silenced by its awe.

erigion stood on his roof tops with blade in hand waiting.
then it came.
first was the rain, torrents of water hit the roofs and streets around him.
then the sky's began to fade into a deep red.
lighting began to crack the heavens above him fiercely striking, not onto the earth but into an area of cloud above him until the sky seemed to explode in a mass of orange and black light.

erigion glanced upwards.
"welcome back old friend" he whispered.

the dragon began to descend from the sky, its scales were deep crimson and lined with black, scars covered his ancient body, although old he was still the mightiest of all creatures thus the reason why erigion could never tame him.they were friends in fact, erigion had saved the ancient sky beast almost 100 years ago in one of the many wars they have shared along with stroud. the beast swore a life debt to erigion and has arrived at the sounding of the horn, actually crafted from one of the dragons own, ever since.

the people below didn't see it, not because of a special power it had or it was shielded by clouds it was in fact because people did not believe they existed anymore if not at all, this alone created a shield in the mind of humans that protected them from an ugly truth, that truth being they did not rule the land..they were not the supreme life on the planet. their was a tiny bit of manacraft involved at first back when dragons were hunted, but now 100's of years later the humans had evolved with that shield already there.

Erigion jumped onto its back as it flew past. and held on for safety.
"welcome back to the world of the living friend" he shouted trying to get his voice over the wind now blowing on his face.
then the dragon spoke.its voice was so powerful it filled the world with both fear and awe and it was heard as though it was the only sound in the entire cosmos
"I have been waiting." it said

"yes i can imagine" said erigion

"why was i not called upon before this time?" it asked him

"i wanted to be sure you were needed my friend,i know how much you enjoy your sleeps, although how one can sleep for so long i don't know" erigion replied.

"I thank you for you concern, now then what is our destination?" it said
"stroud" said erigion
"it needs to be tonight" he added

"it is done" said the beast.

no less than an hour had passed when stroud first heard the the beat of huge wings out side, he peered out of his window, chapple was asleep again this was fine since explaining to a boy why a dragon was outside grazing would be hard at this stage in time.he took his robe from the hook and walked outside, he could see it now. the dragon guardian of the skies athilius, that was its name according to books, although the dragon never mentioned its name once.

for such a huge beast its landing was graceful,it bowed its head and a figure hopped off stroud recognized him instantly and walked over to greet his old comrade.

"its good to see you my friend" stroud said.
"indeed it is,however the circumstances could have been happier" erigion said sternly.

"and you, your looking well" said stroud to the dragon.
"oh by the way about a quarter mile to the south east is a farm, got a lot of sheep they 'ave" he added slyly.

the dragon looked at him and nodded with thanks then flew off into the night.
"now then" said stroud.
"now then indeed" said erigion.
the two entered the small stone church on top of the hill. for the pair had much to discuss.
a small distance away 12 sheep disappeared.
