Part III: Chapter 8
::Kari glanced over her shoulder at him, not noticing that her hair had fallen away from her pointed ears, revealing them:: Why are you here...?

Sane looks at her his eye narrowing, she had elf ears... Like Kari... Yet she looked diffrent. Sane regained himself in a moment and straightened up.

"I'm sorry... we just heard singing that sounded familiar... So we decided to... I'm sorry, we should have stayed away." Sane mutters.

Hector looks at Sane and gives him a sharp look and then nudges him.

"My lady I believe what my friend here was tryng to say was that your singing reminded him of a close friend he knows... Now he left that person behind because Sane here has to go on a quest of sorts... SOOO he thought maybe you were his friend obviously he was probably mistaken." Hector says

Sane shakes his head and takes another bow.

"I'm sorry once again I am probably mistaken."

::Kari thought hard for a moment, caught in the dilemma as to whether or not to tell him who she really was. In the end, she decided against it. There would have been no point in coming this far if she was to give up on her plan now. She stood and turned to face the two men, her long hair rustling slightly in the warm evening breeze:: Yes, I fear you are. ::She looked to Sane:: Could you excuse Hector and myself for a brief moment? I wish to have a private word with him.

Sane nodded and took another bow. He smiled and patted Hector on the shoulder before leaving and heading off towards the far side of the garden. Hector smiles at Kari and gives her a wink.

"How may I be of service to you?" Hector says in sauve voice.

::Kari did not smile back:: You can wipe that repulsive expression from your face to start. ::She turned away from him for a moment, still in thought, and also to give a few more moments to be sure Sane was out of hearing range. She then turned back to Hector, a deep pain echoing in her eyes:: I am who he suspects me to be.

Hector's smile fades... This woman... Was the one Sane loved. Yet she refused to tell him so herself. Hector shakes hishead the info sinking a bit deeper into him... He straightens himself up and looks at Kari, he decided to prod a bit further.

"So... Why do you choose to not tell him might I ask? Are you feeding your bloody heart to see him in pain? He loves you deeply... I can see in your eyes it is painful for you to leave him... yet I do no understand why you choose to do it..."

Hector cocks an eyebrow his eyes cold his smile now a tightly pressed line. Across the garden Sane sits on the ground a flower in his hand he plucks the petals from it watching as the float in the wind a bit before settling softly to the ground... Sane smiled sadly and cintuined to twirl and pluck at the flower in his hand.

::Her gaze turned to Sane, who sat across the garden. Her chest ached at seeing his loneliness:: He is set on a mission for which I would rather die than have him distracted in any way by my presence. ::She turned back to Hector:: You know of what I speak, do you not?

Hector nods and looks over at Sane his eye narrowing... Clearly Sane would be disrupted by her presence... He did not want that... Sane should finish his mission, his duty to his family name. Yet Hector knew that Sane wouldn't be able to go on without someone to accompany him as he looked back at Kari he smiled.

"Alright... I understand... I know you would distract him from his duty, ye I know if he goes on he will not make it on his own... that is why I have decided to accompany him. We have traveled far me and him... and as his close friend I shall keep him safe... So that after all this is over he cane return to you... In one piece." , Hector says calmly.

Hector looks back at Sane who has now stood up and is pacing the ground scratching his head and talking to himself...

"Why the hell should I continue on this damn journey? Maybe Lestat is already came to pass away... Yet Demons don't pass away that easily... I must do this... Yet I miss her smile so much... her warm precense in my heart... I shall finish this burden as fast as I can before returning to my love..." , Sane mumble under his breath as he continues to pace back and forth.

::Kari looked to him a moment, then turned back to Hector. Her eyes were solid as stone with determination:: I am going with him. Under this guise, I will stay at his side at all times. I cannot risk any harm coming to him. You must understand...

Hector nods and smiles, "Well then... I guess it shall be the three of us then. I understand the point you make... So? Shall we get back to kind Sane and tell him that we shall be goign with him?" Hector cocks and eyebrows and his grin broadens.

::Kari nods but catches Hector's arm as he turns to head back to Sane:: I beg of you, say nothing of this to him... ::She then moves past Hector and walks over to Sane. Her eyes are soft, far contrary to their earlier state during the battle. Now, they showed pain and sorrow as they gazed on their only paradise. Kari spoke softly, but firmly:: I wish to accompany you on your journey, Sir Sane.

::Back in Velnarre, a fury spread through the valley upon the finding of Ferus's body on the riverbank. Remeli raced through the halls of the Great Hall, in search of her husband. She finally found him and ran to him in desperation:: Celdir! Have you heard?!

::He nodded, attempting to comfort his wife:: Yes, my love, I heard.

::She looked to him in panic:: But what will we do? Ferus was well-loved by many! There are many who believed he was the true-blood Guardian of Velnarre! They will press for punishment! Death! Even banishment!

::He spoke softly, taking his sobbing wife into his arms:: I will do what I can to sway them. I do not know what will happen, Remi. Much must be taken to Council. Until then, go to the Dias. I'm sure the other Maidens will need help preparing the body for the Ceremonies. ::He kissed his wife gently and moved off down the hall::

Sane looks at Kari and thinks for a moment, "It would be lonely goign all alone on this journey... Yet I know it is dangerous... yet back there you have proved to be a great fighter and a good companion to have by my side... Therefore... Yes you may come along." Sane turns towards Hector smiling, "It is too bad our time together must be cut so short... yet this journey awaits me."

Hector shakes his head, "No my good friend... I am coming with you as well. After all... I do need to accompany our lady." Hector winks at Kari and then smiles looking at Sane and slapping him on the back.

Sane smiles back, "Well then I guess it shall be the three of us then... I suggest we stay another day here though and gather out supplies and whatever we need."

Hector smiles, "Since I practically own the damned market you can be sure I will take care of that Sane... I suggest you just rest." Turning towards Kari, he smiles, "So should you." Hector smiles and turns around leaving towards town.

::Kari was reluctant to let Hector leave herself and Sane alone, yet she had yearned for a moment such as this to be able to talk to him. She didn't quite know what she would say, only that to be with him one-on-one was like a glimpse of the past, unspoiled by the passing of time. She looked to him, nervousness overcoming her, and turned away to hide the beads of sweat that plagued her forehead. She knelt once more by the water and spoke to Sane, though keeping her eyes locked on the moon's reflection in the water:: Why did you come? Why did you spy on me?

Sane shook his head and looked up at the moon closing his eyes and taking in a deep breath of air. "You song... It reminded me of a girl I left behind. I though maybe you were her... I will apologize once more if you want me to..."

::Kari shook her head:: No, that is not necessary... ::She paused for a long moment, thinking silently to herself before continuing, her voice soft:: This girl...who was she?

Sane smiled as he began to recall the memories of him and Kari, "She was a half human half elf... much like yourself... her hair golden... She's as sweet as anything I've ever seen. Her name is Kari... I still can not belive I left her behind... My heart was torn by my decision, yet I do have a duty to my family." Sane sighed and shook his head.

::Kari fought to control her voice, to keep it from faltering. She turned and smiled softly at him:: You make her sound so wonderful... Though I am no half-elf, good sir. Only pure Elvien blood flows in my veins. ::She turned away again, hating the lie, but she knew it would help secure her cover:: I know how you feel... I too left someone behind...

Sane raised an eyebrow looked at her returning her smile, "Will you tell me about him? I apologize if this is too bold of me to ask." Sane looked at the ground his face turning a slight red.

::She glanced over at him, surprised. She smiled softly at the reddening of his face. It brought back memories. Then, as she realized the question, she remembered that she could not tell him about himself. At least not directly...:: He was a human. Very kind, empathetic, and brave. An honorable man by all accounts. I cared for him like no other. He was my heart and soul... I miss him very much...

Sane smiled, "It sounds like you care for him deeply. It no wonder you were so cold towards Hector. HA HA HA." Sane laughs a bit and then regains his composure. "I'm sorry... but Hector tries so hard to gain a lady's favor, he comes on as a pig, yet he can be understanding at times."

::Kari smiled:: I can see in his eyes that he is a good man. He just gets lonely sometimes, I suppose. ::She stood in one graceful, flowing motion and turned to Sane with a gentle, friendly smile:: If you wish, you may stay here tonight. That is, unless you would rather stay at an Inn with Hector. I myself prefer to sleep under the stars.

Sane laughs and nods, "Yes but that is the way with most men however. Of course there are select few that aren't." Sane grins and looks up at the moon again, sighing wondering if at this moment his love was looking at the same moon. "I do not know... I like sleeping outside... I'm used to it."

::Kari nodded:: Well, then feel free to join me out here. I may be up much of the night, but I will not stir you, should you wish to rest. ::At that, she moved over to her pack by the tree and began rummaging through it::

Sane smiled and nodded goign over by a tree he sat down at the stump leaning against it he looked up at the branches and the leaves which danced on them everytime the wind blew. "They're so peaceful... I wonder how Hector is holding up?" , Sane thought to himself.

::Kari looked over at him, a quiet sadness in her eyes:: ...Do you think about her often?

Sane looks at Kari and smiles nodding, "Yes quite often... I just wish that I didn't have to do this... But my duty lies to my family first then to my heart. I wonder sometimes how she is holding up and yet my heart tells me she is alright." Sane smiles again and scratches his head.

::Kari grinned and straightened, holding a bundle in her hands:: Well never fear, Sir Sane. I, Kiah of the Woodland Realm will watch over you so you may safely return to your heart's true desire! ::She laughed to herself a moment, then opened up the bundle and pulled out a few strips of jerky and a piece of bread. Kari walked over to him and held out the food:: Here. You should eat something.

::She then sat down at the foot of the willow tree and took a bite of a piece of jerky, chewing thoughtfully. In her mind, she ran over the possibility that they might run into someone who knew her as Trynn, her Slayer name. She thought that it may be a good idea to tell Sane that her name was not Kiah like she had said before the seige on the keep. After a few moments of debating to herself, she decided against it. She wanted him to trust her, or rather the identity she had reclaimed after more than a few decades. No, she would let them keep thinking her name was Kiah. She would let them keep thinking she was a simple Woodland Elf who had made her way into a pack of bandits, though she wasn't sure if Hector or Sane would notice that she had not been a part of the group up until the seige. She sighed quietly. She would take her chances in order to keep him safe...::

Sane took the bread and jerky nodding his thanks... He smiled and bit into the bread thinking as he chewed the food. He leaned against the tree and looked at the leaves. This whole ritual of eating and sleeping outside reminded him so much of Kari and his time on the road to her city... He missed her alot. " Thank you for the food... "

::Kari nodded and smiled, hating the fact that she couldn't hold him or kiss him or fall asleep in his arms like before. Instead, she turned her gaze away and gathered up her cloak, looking to a low, wide tree branch to sleep on:: We should get some rest. An early start would be best tomorrow. ::She leapt up into the tree and sat down with her back against the trunk. She sat there a long time in silence before drifting off to sleep::

"Yes you're right." he said. Sane smiled and closed his eyes, she was right it he had best get to sleep if they were going to leave early the next morning. Sane sighed and drifted off into a deep sleep.
