PROLOGUE Sitting on the cold, dusty ground, he thinks about the fear and darkness that has been spread throughout the villages. Saddness enveloped him for thinking about this. He just wanted to prove that he was good and not the evil he used to be. For centuries, he had been a nightmare to all and fed on their fear. Right now there was no hope, none at all that he could find. The spreading darkness was too powerful for him, way too powerful. All of this darkness and fear made him grieve and writhe in crucial pain that never ended. Closing his demonic eyes, he searches for that one sign of hope, one that could help him destroy that evil and bring him out of his misery. He searched far and wide for it and it suddenly came to him. The power was so great that it shocked him out of his search and he flew back a few feet. A girl about 16 living with an ill uncle and had been abandoned by her parents, far away in the city of Hanuraka. Joy filled him as he stepped towards the edge. No matter what happened, he needed that girl's help and then he could prove how good he really was. Wanting to start right away, he jumped off the edge and took flight into the sky.
CHAPTER 1 I slammed the door shut, carrying the empty bucket to fill up water from the well. Uncle Braddock had brought up the subject of my filthy rotten parents abandoning me. I knew that it was good intentions and all but it the thought of it had made me felt like no one needed me, it felt as if i were worthless in this big old world. Still fuming, I pulled the bucket from the well and slowly went back, with thoughts filling my mind. When I opened the door, Uncle Braddock was passed out and falling off his chair. My heart skipped a beat and i set down the bucket of water rapidly. I was used to carrying heavy loads so i put Uncle on my back and half carried him half drug him to his bed. then, i quickly ran and got a cloth and soaked it in the water. Thankfully, he was still breathing and he opened his eyes. I hugged him. "Jennifer, get off of me!" He grumbled. I straightened quickly. "Oh Uncle, you are getting worse! How can i not be happy when i was terrified of what could happen?" He tried to sit up but i shook my head. "No Uncle, you have to rest, you passed out and your cough has gotten worse and you can barely move!" Uncle just shook his head. "I have things to do that aren't being done! So let me go Jennifer!" I shook my head. "I will get them done Uncle, you need to rest!" He glared at me and then settled down. "If nothing has been done, then i am going to get up and work!" "Okay, go ahead, but i am going to go to the market really quickly, I better not see you out of bed!" I said and left, grabbing the coin purse on the way out. My horse came up to me and i swung myself onto his back. happily, he took off to town. Barely anyone was around, but that was because the king was going to pass through and they had to make the roads clear and fix up everything. Even if my uncle is poor, he and the king used to grow up together and so they are still best friends and so my uncle is taking drastic measures to make things look nice. I hopped off my horse and my friend Jonovan ran up to me. "Hey Jen." He said gleefully. "Hey." I said quietly and handed him my horses reins. "Uncle passed out again and i am terribly worried. He's awake now." Jonovan's eyes widened and softened. "Do you think he's able to see the king, since, the king IS coming to see him?" I hesitated and shook my head. "I don't think he should, but you know my Uncle, he's persistant and stubborn!" Jonovan chuckled. "So are you!" I glared at him. "Am not!
