December 21, 2008: French Raspberry Cream Cheese Stuffed Toast Delight
Ingredients:
~2 Eggs
~ ½ Cup milk
~4 Slices of French bread
~¼ Cup of soft cream cheese
~2 Tablespoons of raspberry jam
~ ½ Tablespoon butter
~1 Tablespoon powder sugar
~Fresh Raspberries (for on top if you like)
~Raspberry Syrup (or your favorite favor syrup)
Preparation:
Crack the eggs and add milk into a shallow bowl. Whisk them together then set aside. Then spread cream cheese on the first and second pieces of bread. Spread jam on the third and fourth pieces of bread. Make sandwiches with the pieces. Make sure that one cream cheese piece is with one jam piece. You will now have two sandwiches. Next, melt the butter in a skillet at medium heat. Remember, butter can burn; to the bottom of the pan or your skin! Please be very careful! When the butter is hot and melted, dip sandwiches in the egg-milk mixture. Coat both side and cook them! Fry each side until golden brown. Cut French toast sandwiches in half and sprinkle with powder sugar. Serve with fresh fruit and syrup!
Makes:
2 Pieces
My Review:
Even though this can be a year round breakfast dish it’s really good for Christmas morning! This is a super simple French toast recipe I learned in 7th grade cooking class! I always have to triple the recipe though because my family has four people and my brother is a big eater like me! Plus, it’s Christmas-y colors for the holidays! For cutting the sandwiches, it’s fancier to cut them diagonally in half. I’m sure if you don’t like raspberries you could use another jam as a substitute! You could even use blueberry jam and make them Hannukkah-y French toast pieces! The best alteration to this recipe is to add real pieces of fruits inside or on top! Well! Happy Holidays friends and good cooking!
