Scout (Starter): One sunny afternoon Scout wandered into the Pepper Family's yard and began to eat some clothes that were hanging out to dry. A 7 year old Melany walk up, grabbed Scout firmly by the ear and began explaining why eating clothes was naughty of him. Mrs. Pepper nearly had a heart attack when she returned home from shopping in Goldenrod to fin a 250lbs+ Rhyhorn sitting in her living room being fed magazines by her daughter.
On a later trip into town, Melany bought a Nest Ball with her saved up allowance.
Scout's left ear (the same ear Melany grabbed during their first meeting) has a Shell Bell earring.
Pudge: Pudge is Mrs. Pepper's Starter Pokemon, who is currently in charge of making sure Melany stays out of trouble. Pudge has her own PokeGear which she uses to check in at home once a day with Melany's mom. When mother Pepper, Belle, was still a trainer, she taught Pudge a basic form of Sign language so they could communicate on a higher level. Pudge uses this method to inform Belle if Melany needs more money, certain items, or just to check in.
Pudge wears a large red bow around her neck. it is woven out of a Destiny knot.
Chrono: Chrono was given to Melany by her Best Friend Toliver as a root fossil, the first official find on his first Solo Dig. Chrono is a little shy, and often hides behind Pudge who will protect him to the point of fainting. (The Two seem to have their sizes switched in their minds)
He has a Quick Claw Taped to his belly, which he gives Melany to wear as a necklace during Pokemon Contests.
Donnie: Donnie was bred in the warehouse under the Celadon Game Corner. From there hes was transferred over to the Goldenrod Chain as an egg, where he was presented to Melany for her compassion towards Pokemon.
- She had been playing the slots all week, breaking bank on every machine and then trading for as many Pokemon at a time as she could, setting them free in the city. The Owner of the game corner, claiming her to be a start among children, presented her with a Dratini egg for her efforts. (Really he wanted her to quit it as it was giving the Game Corner a bad rep and he was loosing money)
The egg hatched into a pink Dratini, which Melany named Donnie. Donnie has since grown into a Dragonite with a love of accessories and Pokemon Contests.
Donnie wears a Blue Scarf.
Pell + Bento: One night Melany's Gligar, Bento, strayed from camp and happened across a Togekiss Nest being attacked by an Ekans. Bento struck the Ekans, fainting it, while at the same time dislodging one of the eggs from the nest and off a cliff. Diving headfirst after it Bento caught the egg and managed to evolve right before impact, saving both their lives.
Bento nursed the egg and cared for it while traveling and named the baby Pell after he hatched. (Pudge Translated of Course)
- Pell tends to be the braver of the two, and will often hook his feet under Bento's back plate so that they can fly together. (As Gliscor can only Glide some distance, Bento enjoys this immensely.)
They share an inseparable bond.
