Rant at 3:30 in the morning
You know what I'm tired of? When people find out I'm visually impaired: the first thing that coes out of their mouth is: I'm sorry! I understand that sOME don't know what to say to that, but do they hAVE gtosay their sorry? I'd prefer "That sucks!" To I'm sorry!

Because I am NOT sorry that I'm visually impaired. It has made me ther person I am today. It has led me to meet some amazing people, and do some thigns I NEVER would have been able to do! It makes me unique. Sure there are a bunch of people out there with visiual impairments, but it makes me unique among my friends. Sure some of them are impaired as well, but none are impaired either the same way or for the same reason!

I was born this way. i've had eighteen years to come to terms with the fact that I can't see out of my right eye and have to be careful about my left one. Because someday I may not be able to completely see. Sure it scares me, but I have ACCEPTED it!

Don't feel SORRY for me because I can't completely see: listen to what I have to say and realize: it made me who I am. Without my impairment: I don't even KNOW who I would be today. And if someday: I won't be able to see at all: then I will have cherished every day that I COULD see. I didn't sit there and wallow in self pity. I took my impairment: and I ran with it.
