Or that I feel more worthless than dirt

Or know what haunts me when I dream
You don't feel the pain inside my heart
The pain that is tearing me apart
The pain that makes me scared to love
Because I feel like a wingless dove
A dove that cannot fly
Has no purpose, so why?
What can a wingless dove do?
How can a wingless dove be worth anything to you?
You don't even know that I cannot fly
You think that I'm up high, way up in the sky
You do not see my tears
You do not know my fears
All you see is my smile
You do not know that I am faking it, all the while
My smile is my mask
And being a jester is my task
My smile will not fade
Because that is the way that the jester's face is made

About the tears that fall so slow
Everyone thinks that slow is much better than fast
But fast does not last
It comes and goes
But slow keeps up a steady flow

This wingless dove

Because a jester is a bird that can fly
The song that it sings
Is only of happy things
It laughs and dances
Makes jokes and prances
Sings and sings
Because the jester has beautiful and big, great wings
Who would ever know
That a jester knows how low, low can go?
Who could ever guess
That behind that happy smile, the jester is a complete mess
Who would ever want to see
That this lie is truly not the real me?
Who would want to feel
My pain that is so very real...?
