Midnight Showdown
Randome Short story, possibly will be a scene in my novel.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It was finally time. The test of all tests. It was fated to happen at some time, and now she was here, he would meet her for the first time, in this body. He had met her before, but had taken another form, and it was time to face him, all at the same time. He didn't know what this late night meeting would bring, but he knew he would finally get results.

The wind blew lightly, his long hair hitting him in the face like tiny whips. He wondered what was taking her so long, but checking his watch, he realized he was early. She would probably be here precisly at midnight, exactly when she said she would be. She had always been like that it seemed, at least when he was in a different form.

"As fate would find us here, at this time, on this day. We are meeting each other not truely for the first time. But I wonder how you knew to come here. You are early, with many things it seems. You were supposed to become a vampire four years from now, and you showed up to our first meeting in this 'world' early as well. Interesting," Aenir said, approaching Linden.

"In another 'world', you had once been called 'Father Alexander' in the service of the goddess, Rima Niin, the Holy One. But here, you are just a vampire, still a ghost hunter it seems. So, have you met your 'Rose' in this world as well? Haha. You know, she was killed in the other one. War has such cruel outcomes." Aenir laughed.

She looked up at the full moon, "He is coming, he will be here soon."

Linden nodded, "Indeed, witch." He noticed her upward gaze, and shifted his attention towards the full moon. It was a blueish color today, something that happend only once in a lifetime. He grinned, it was time. Time for him to face the vampire that had haunted his dreams for such a long time, his own father.

It began to rain, a cold rain. It started out slow, but then began coming down in sheets. What perfect weather for a showdown!

She had brought her box of rock salt, and began to sprinkle it in a cirlcle around herself, "You do realize that when he comes, you will have to face him on your own? You are to have no outside interferance."

She looked back at him, after finishing the circle of salt around her. A sort of barrier to protect her from the soon to come evil vampire.

Her clothes were now soaked through with the fast falling rain. She knew it would happen, even though she had dreaded it. But all of this had been fated, and you could not stop fate.

Linden nodded, "I understand." He watched her place the salt around her, slightly confused, but he did not say anything about it. It had to be some sort of a barrier for her own protection it seemed. Was his father really that evil? Or just very powerful?

It didn't matter now, for they were fated to meet for the last time at this hour, at this place, on this day. The witch had already told him that, but he still did not know her name for some reason. She had not told him her name, and he wished he knew why.

"With the knowledge of a person's name, one can lay hold of a piece of the person's soul. With the knowledge of a birthdate, one is able to lay hold of the plot of the life path from birth to now, and from now onward," she recited from her favorite anime with a laugh.

"Of course, I do know your birthday, having met you before," she paused, laughing once more, then continued," October 15th!"

"You wish to know my name?" She asked, a miscievious looking grin on her face. She put the box of salt away in her bag, and moved her gaze back to Linden.

"I did not ask you your name," he said to her rather rudely.

"It's Aenir. Aenir Krasak. Of course, that is an assumed name," she said, giggling.

"Yet you tell me anyway, and lie about it too!" he yelled. Of course, he usually did not tell people his real name either, but she already knew his, having met him before in another 'world'.

She kept on her giggling for a little longer, then fell deathly silent.

She scanned the area, feeling a new Spirit Energy, "he is here."

Linden looked away from the witch, and scanned the darkness, a chill engufing his body. He could feel the aura before he could see it, a dark reddish aura, the aura of his father.

He was indeed here, and he was coming closer. Linden was actually scared, frozen to the spot in fear. He was not sure what to do, how to confront this vampire. This might be his last day on this earth.

"Linden! Look out!" she yelled, knowing that Linden knew the vampire was behind him already, but Linden seemed plastered to the spot, how unlike Linden, at least, how unlike vampire Linden. He wasn't supposed to be scared!

Linden quickly turned around to darkness. The wind had picked up a bit, but he did not see the vampire. The rain kept coming down in sheets, and wasn't doing much for his eyesight.

He turned back to Aenir, a questioning look on his face, but he could not see her anymore for some reason. He felt as if he had gone completly blind. He could still feel the rain, but he saw nothing.

"Alexander, Come to me!" came a voice from behind him. It was the vampire, but he still could not see him. He was lifted off the ground, and went flying through the air. High in the sky and further and further away from the school.

"We can not have any witnesses, my son" he said. There was a laugh, and Linden passed out, only to wake up a what seemed like only moments later. He couldn't even describe the room that he was now in.

His father was sitting at a desk, writing in a notebook. He looked at Linden, seeing that he was awake. This was the first time he had actually seen his father, it was as if he was looking in a mirror. He looked...so young!

Linden soon regained his footing, and stood up, he was the same height as his father too.

"So, you've been going by Linden for a long time now. May I ask why?" The vampire asked. Linden stared at him for a moment, wondering if he should answer. It didn't seem to matter if he did or didn't now though.

"I lost my first name," Linden said, not completely answering the question. The other world Linden had lost his first name when he was expelled from the clergy, when he was 18, the age he was now.

The vampire just laughed, "Alex, Alex, Alex. You will always be Alex. There is no way to lose a name, I know you must have your reasons. That Aenir girl has your name, and she can control you now because of it. Do you want your actions to be controlled by a mere mortal?"

He was taunting Linden, but he decided to keep calm. He had not expected his conversation with his father to go like this. He actually had not expected a conversation at all.

"Then have you met Rose, yet? You know the 'other' Rose is killed during a war. If you ever meet a Rose in this would, just skip the heartbreak and leave her alone," he laughed more as if he had just told Linden a particularly funny joke.

He came closer to Linden, forcing Linden's gaze to outside a window, it was still raining, very heavy, but from what he could see, it appeared as if they were high up in the clouds. Linden looked down as far as he could see, but he could not see the ground at all. He told himself it was just fog, but his heart was racing anyway. Linden was afraid of hights.

"I'm not actually your father, Linden. He already left. I am you!" he laughed some more, showing his own fangs, "You didn't think you would meet yourself from another dimension, did you? Your father, our father is on the run. He has been able to travel between dimensions for the longest time. The two of us have the same father, oddly enough, so I guess that would make me your half brother then.

"I don't know what his plans are, but whatever they might be, he needs to be stopped, and I need you for that, I can't do it alone."

"You are Alex too then?"

"No, silly, I am Linden too! I don't go by Alex, just as you don't." he thought for a second, then said, we may also need that witch, and your Koji too. Koji, Koji, Koji. The Koji im my dimension, was killed, by our dear old father. Why? I don't know. He was jealous or something, but we will make him pay for it anyway."

Linden was confused, was this really his half brother from another dimension, or was he Linden's father? He shook his head, why did everything have to be so complicated?

The other Linden looked at the floor, then snapped his fingers, "She will be coming to see us soon, I can fell her aura right now, outside my tower. She can transend dimensions too, did you know this?"

"What? I'm not even in my world anymore?"

"Nope, you are with me, in my tower, in my world. I have been following father for quite sometime now, and I have learned the secrets to transending dimensions as well. You don't believe me I know, but your trust means very little to me."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She couldn't let this happen now. Linden was supposed to survive, it was fated, and she had to make sure that was what happened. She shifted through the world barriers, following the other, more experienced vampire. Soon the feeling had changed. Linden's father had left, seemingly disappeared, and the new aura was one very similar to Lindens.

Another Linden, she sighed. She hadn't met this Linden yet, but he was already a vampire as well.

She flew up towards the tower, and into a window, seeing the two of them there. Two clones of one another. This was going to get confusing, they looked exactly the same! She couldn't even distinguish between clothing, because the 'other' Linden had dressed her world 'Linden' in a matchin outfit, go figure. It was like he was purposly trying to confuse her.
