More Than Anything
Fandom: xxxHolic
Pairing: Watanuki x Doumeki
Rating: PG
Notes: I do not claim these characters, they belong to CLAMP! This is part five, coming after Doumeki in Wonderland. I know it is kind of sappy, but I hope that you enjoy it anyway. This one is dedicated to Mister Watanuki.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He was still holding Doumeki as tightly as he possibly could, tears streaming down his cheeks. Yuuko told him that antidote would work, and nothing seemed to be happening no matter how many times he shook the unconscious boy or yelled at him to wake up. He didn't want someone to die again because of him.

He didn't even noticed when Doumeki's eyes opened, and didn't know that he had obviously heard everything the other boy had said. He smirked, then said in his ear, "I love your cooking."

"Jerk!" Watanuki yelled, letting go of Doumeki so that he dropped back to the futon. He turned away from Doumeki, and was ready to leave the room, wiping the tears from his face.

Doumeki sat back up, "Hey, where are you going?"

"My name is NOT 'hey'!" Watanuki yelled, just as he was pulled back toward the futon. He looked at Doumeki, who was still smirking.

"Stop looking at me like that you creep."

"Like what?"

Watanuki looked away again, feeling a blush on his face. Just in time to see Yuuko walk into the room, grinning like a cat. He jumped up away from the futon and walked toward the door.

"So, he's awake."

Watanuki only nodded, but didn't even bother to look back at Doumeki.

"I guess I owe you for that sword."

This time he did look back. What the hell was that thick-headed idiot talking about?

Yuuko grinned more, "We'll talk about that later. Watanuki! We need food."

Watanuki groaned and began walking toward the kitchen in time to hear, "And don't forget sake!"

"YOU SHOULDN'T BE DRINKING!" he yelled back, stomping the rest of the way to the kitchen with Maru and Moro dancing around him saying "Watanuki's mad! Watanuki's mad!"

The girls giggled more, making Watanuki more agitated yet. But all he did was grumbled as he put on his apron and began cooking, since not just any snack would do for Yuuko.

A few days later, and everything had seemed to go back to normal; Watanuki brought three bento boxes to school, and they all ate together with Himawari. Doumeki walked Watanuki to and from school and to Yuuko's shop, accompanying him on a mission one night. While they didn't talk about anything that had happened that day, there was one thing that had changed; Watanuki wasn't fawning over Himawari anymore, and she didn't even seem to notice.

He didn't like it one bit, and he was depressed again. Did Doumeki seriously love Watanuki's cooking more than he loved Watanuki? Why would he say something like that? He had not ignored Doumeki after they had returned to school, but neither had they talked. It was painful to be so close, yet it felt as if they were miles away.

"Watanuki-kun? Are you alright?" Himawari asked him during lunch.

He looked up from his bento and slowly nodded, not sure what to say, even to her. He needed to talk to someone, but he wasn't even sure how to go about it. He looked at the spot where Doumeki would be sitting if he were here, but he hadn't come to lunch today. Archery practice, Himawari had told him. He quickly finished eating, then stood up, telling Himawari that he was going to go and give Doumeki his bento now. He had to talk to Doumeki.

There was a very awkward silence after he had handed the bento box to Doumeki, who didn't even say thank you, as usual. He watched the other boy eat, sitting down next to him. They didn't even exchange glances as they sat there in silence. Stupid Doumeki, he thought, why is it so hard to talk to him?

Doumeki looked up, seeing that Watanuki was staring at him.

"What?" he asked. Why couldn't the moron even say more than a few words? Watanuki's expression turned to a scowl.

"Idiot," he said, looking away, and he could feel himself beginning to blush.

"I don't think you came here just to call me names," the archer said in an even tone.

"Of course not you jerk! The great Watanuki-sama has come to bring you lunch!"

"Hm."

"That's not even a word! Why won't you talk to me?"

"What do you want to talk about?"

The beginnings of a blush had suddenly changed to make his entire face red.

"Do you really love my cooking..... more than me?" he asked, the last part being whispered, and Doumeki couldn't make it out.

"What?"

"Do you really love my cooking more than me, you jerk!"

The looked that crossed Doumeki's face just then had to have been shock, even with the boy's lack of emotion. All too soon, Watanuki regretted asking that question, he just wanted to crawl away and disappear just then.

"Why would you say that?"

"Don't you remember! When you woke up after you had been poisoned, you said you loved my cooking, after I had said..."

"Kimihiro."

His head shot back to look at Doumeki, he did not just...

"I DID NOT GIVE YOU PERMISION-"

"You called me by my first name first."

That was enough to shut Watanuki up. He looked back at the ground, his eyes growing wet. He felt and arm around his waist, and a hand at his chin, gently turning his head to look back at Doumeki. A thumb over his eyes, wiping away the tears.

"Do you love me?"

Doumeki nodded.

"More than my cooking?"

"More than anything," Doumeki said, gently pulling Watanuki into a kiss.
