Today was really, really great.
The weather was awesome to just a little warm and I went shopping with me mum.
She needed new shoes for work. She's a care attendent in a nursing home (which means she helps the oldies get up, clean and dressed. lots of in and out of showers and such.) and needs tough shoes and hers were so thin you could poke a finger thru.
not good and murder on her feet. It was a pity those shoes died as ma's feet are size 10 1/2 tripple e... and that's a VERY broad foot and very hard to fit... but she'd heard of this new place up the line a bit that promised cheap shoes and wasn't called into work today so today was the day we went.
ma slept in and at around about 9 ish I went in and gave her a poke. didn't quite work and it was 9:30 odd before she was up and at em... and then she was waiting on me cause I'd gone online and gotten side tracked. razz
still we started off at 10 ish. plenty of time. I have a standard counciling appointment at 3pm that i needed to be back for but beyond that...
the town we went to was 40 mins away and in a dodgy car like ours that's a dicey trip so she was going to borrow the car of a friend currently road tripping in QLD (with his permission of course) when we discovered his car actually has a flat tire... well opps. And then we ran into the friend who'd gone with the friend who went to QLD (mums x) and she had so good chattage about what the holiday was like... which was why she was back early. (mum's x is a selfish, juvinenile guy and any trip with him has to be about him... any holiday with him is pretty much just going on a bender. he has little to no considertion for the situation others may be in or the law and the lady who went with him who just wanted some time out to chill on the aniversary of her hubbies death found mums x waaaaaaaaaaaay to stressful to be around so she hopped a bus and came home.) After 20 mins of chattage batting continously at flies (his house is always swarming with them in summer for some reason) we left to pick up mums cash. ( no branch of the bank she uses in the town we were going to.)
We got side tracked there as well... I love 2nd hand stores. ^_^. several x mas prezzies for nieces and one for dad's wife (and half a dozzen pairs of cheap sockings) later we were on our way again.
stop three was the coblers to see if they made shoes still (they don't) but they do fix em so mum left a pair of shoes to be fixed and then we were off to find the shoe shop. 1 false stop and several backroads later we found it and it was brillient. Like a clearance store and mum found not only shoes in her size but ones to big for her. 0.o. Neva ever thought we'd see this happen. after an hour of trying on this, that and the other and several guys shoes besides she settled on 2 pairs for her and one for me. She was prepared to pay 150-200 to get a pair of shoes that fit and instead got 3 pairs for 110. She was sooooooooo stoked.
while I did some random grocery shopping she asked advice on her phone and got me a postal vote form. razz ( pollies make me so tired)
while we were meandering out the wrong door she met a work friend and chatted, then realised we were going out the wrong door, turned around and on the way back found a store selling clothing for larger sizes on sale...I scored a lovely pair of swimmers (which is good cause mine a dead. atm i wear a long t over them so that nothing shows.) and found herself 2 pairs of cotten pants in the perfect colour for work. (which in it's infinate idiocy has decided that it's staff must were a uniform and then made it of teraline... nasty, hot, synthetic material that doesn't breath, makes you sweat and makes u stink as a result... brillient summer ware NOT. Mum refuses to ware em in summer and now she doesn't have too. She was totally stoked about that too.)
2 very tasty but over priced salid rolls on the fly while we stopped off at my sisters place to drop of some Sabbeth clothes. (I stay over friday nights cause it's easier to run me to church that way.) and make a call. By now it's 2;30 and no way am i going to make my appointment but it turned out fine as my counciler was catching up with a friend of hers and happy for the extra 1/2 hour of chat time.
As we're driving out I decide cheap ice creams to take home would be good and on the way thru we pick u mums shoes (which we'd both totally forgotten aobut. eheh. opps.) Out of what I wanted but I did find one lurking in the bottem of a differnt box.
off once more sipping cool drinks and chatting until we got home then mum dropped me at my appointment and went to pick up the girl friend still at the x's place having a smoke with the other guy who lives there.

on the whole a succesful and enjoyable day.

The stressful bit came after i was dropped home. razz

see, I'd forgotten that modems over heat. so while mum was out having chattage with her recently returned friend and allowing the dog to exhaust herself chasing ducks on the river i was netless for several hours before I thought of ringing my adorable younger sis and her bf... who are a bit more tech savie than I am. He looked it up, said 'turn it off for 10 mins' and that should fix it... so I did.

All is now back to normal which is good cause it's been a wonderful day otherwise.

Her x is away and the car behaved. She had plenty of cash left over and on the whole it was just a wonderful, peaceful, non-stressful shopping day.

And it's been years since we've had a day like that. It just felt really reallly good. And best of all, I didn't have to walk far to anything so i wasn't in any pain!

more days like this would really help I think. ^_^
