I have returned from the depths of hell otherwise known as "Florida in June" stare
I've actually been back since 5am monday morning but alas, I'm still recouping. I guess my bf and I just aren't as spry as we used to be. This trip really wore us out. Let me tell you how things went, shall I? Here goes the "quick" run-down.....
We ended up not getting a nap in before leaving so we already started out on the wrong foot. We hit I-75 a shade after midnight, which would technically make it friday. Andy *bf* drove till 1:30am or so and got too tired. He had just worked over 12 hrs so he was quite tired. I took over for him and drove from 2- almost 5am while he slept. He took over but wasn't quite ready so about a half hour later we pulled over for an hour or so while he slept more. Sometime around 7am or later we got some breakfast to wake ourselves up and then finally hit the road. We didn't get down to our hotel in Ormand Beach FL till about 6pm. So quite a few hours of driving and I hadn't slept....at all....the entire trip. I was frickin exhausted to say the least. So we got something to eat and crashed about 8:30pm.
I got up in the morning about 8am to make sure I could get my shower and packing in before check-out which was 11am. Time to leave the hotel rolled around and we took off. Only problem was it was 11am and the wedding wasn't until 2pm....we had time to kill. After getting gas and ddriving around the area a bit we decided to go up and down A-1-A to see the beach. Why drive by the beach you ask? Simple....all the time we lived in FL we never went to the beach. For shame I know. Anyways, we parked and looked out at the water. As I watched the waves crashing against the sand and the endless sky I understood how people could sit for hours down there. It was so hypnotic and peaceful. I actually didn't want to leave but it was time to find the brides parents house for the nuptuals.
We got there and sat and drank. Not all alcohol mind you, but just liquidsin general since it was very hot out. The wedding itself was short sweet and simple. Which was great coonsidering we were all out baking in the sun while it was going on. I actually got slightly burnt from it *damn sun*. Eventually we were all inside eating and drinking and being merry. All in all it was pretty nice and we had a good time. Finally it was time to take off so we said our goodbyes and took off. I believe it was around 5-6pm when we left.
Now it was time to drive to Brandon which is a suburb of Tampa, so the drive there was about 2 hrs. Yea....more driving.....The whole way there we're calling his Uncle *who were were going to visit and stay with that night* and for the life of us could not reach him. We got to his house and still nothing. We were kind of freaking out and upset at the same time because he knew we were coming, he wasn't there and we couldn't find him. We left and got something to eat. FINALLY he called us and said he was with some people at a restaurant/bar and we should come meet them where they're at.
So we went t the place and sat outside with them. They were all pretty lit when we got there so they were all kind of loud and acting a bit silly. Turns out that Andys uncle and woman were there but also his son *and wife* as well as the sons old friend and her man. So we had a good-sized group. We sat there for awhile then went to an Irish pub called Fox and Hounds. Boy was THAT an experience! It was a crazy little place. Everybody *minus me* drank some more so they were even more lit up, which I guess was kinda funny and kinda annoying. That wasn't good enough so then we went to another bar/club with a live band and they drank a little more. Fortunately we weren't there too long and they were finally ready to go home. By the time we got to the uncles house and got to bed it had to have been 1-2am and we had to get up early to get on the road for home.
We got up around 9am, ate and whatnot an didn't get out of there till about noon....I wasn't to thrilled but oh well. At that point I was so tired and worn-out I just wanted to get the driving over with and get home! We left and headed out. He drove for quite awhile till late again and then I took over for a few hours. Over the night-time hours a few semis and a car or 2 were, I swear, trying to kill us. We about got runover or ran off the road by these crazy people. We just kept thinking "If you're that ******** tired, GET OFF THE ROAD!!!!". We got past the crazys andthe rest of the trip was ok. We rolled into our place about 5am monday morning. We unloaded the car and slept from 6-noon since we had some stuff to take care of that day *laundry and whatnot* Caitlin ended up not coming home till tuesday afternoon and she was very happy to see mom and dad whee
Now you know why it's taken me a few days to get on here and type this up. I'm still not up to par yet and it sucks a**. Andy said next time we're gonna say ******** it and fly and rent a car while down there xp If you couldn't tell he's s totally done with the driving for hours on end, not that I'm not though. So there are my few days in a nutshell. Crazyness huh??? I'm going to post a pic or 2 of myself now as I lead out. The reason?? Well, I never dress-up for one and for the wedding I kinda had to. And I wore a skirt for once....and the BIG thing was....NONE OF IT WAS BLACK!!!! Let me know what you think about it. Make me feel good about something on the trip whee Laters heart
Until next time america......
