A short story for fantasy lovers, part 2
Boy

It had been repeated several times but he still did not understand. His brothers had grown weary of his questions and left him alone to think about it. The television displayed colours with no picture, words with no sound, as his mind drifted over an explanation as to what had happened earlier that evening. Stepping into her presence, he too had felt what did not exsist, atleast not in rising falls. He wanted to try again. To sneak into the room next door and wake the sleeping girl, but his brothers had forbidden him. Instead he decided to test how much further he could press his brothers.
"look, I know what this girl must be able to do, in order to have done what she did tonight," he spoke "but I just dont see how she could have MOVED the storm! and if you havent noticed, I still dont understand the 'she' part!"
His eldest brother stood from his chair. "Sabre, thats enough. We've told you everything, don't say we have left you in the dark this time, you are simply to young and new to all of this to understand."
Sabre whined. "Ok, whatever you win. But you told me that the vision ran in only male DNA. How can you deny that you were wrong?!"
The second brother sat up on the couch and laughed. "He wasnt wrong, you idiot. Maybe if you took your dumb little head out of the clouds every once in a while, you would know what we are talking about. How about, instead of trying to make sense of everything your way, you accept that not everything fits into your rather restricted range of knowledge. This aint no video game bub, things just dont work that way."
Sabre was fuming. He leapt at the couch but fell short when a hand grabbed his collar and dragged him to the floor. The second youngest brother laughed in triumph as the second oldest towered over sabre, a look of disgust upon his face.
"Suck it up, Sabre," he growled " and Onyx, you better deflate that big head of yours before I pop it for you."
"Guys, quiet!" spat the eldest brother "You've probaly already woken her."
Sabre hoped so. He wondered if she could answer his questions.
"No Sabre she cant. From the way she acted, I can tell she obviously had know idea she has the vision."
This made sabre hit boiling point. "Stay out of my head Damion!!!!" and with that he stood and stormed from the cottage, shutting the door with a thundering slam that shook the timber walls.

He walked along the hedge line, kicking pebbles out onto the empty road. They didnt understand what it was like to be the last one to receive the vision, to be the youngest, the 4th. They had all made it look so easy; accepting the vision and working it to their own advantage. But Sabre couldnt do it. He didnt know how to do what was expected of him, and nobody seemed interested in helping him. He hated the way his eldest brothers always catered to Onyx's needs, but never regestered his own. Sabre sat at the edge of the road and tried to think back to what he'd learnt about the vision.
In the script, It had said that the vision was passed down the generations through the males in the families. When a family has only a daughter, the vision dies out, and waits another 5 generations before being born back into the line. So how could this girl have obtained it? surely it would have died out right? Suddenly Sabre went still. Unless it already had died out, he thought. The script said rebirth of the vision is precise to be born back into the line, only in the fifth generation family. So what happens if the fifth generation fails to have a boy?
Finally he understood! Sabre jumped up from the ground and ran back toward the cottage. He had only ran a few metres when he stopped to reconsider. Its not like his brothers would share his excitement at his newly found knowledge. So instead, he swang back around and continued sulkily up the road.
The bushes seemed to fear him, reaching away from the road with the wind. Clouds obscured a smooth sky, as black and dense as death itself. The spotlight of the moon lit his lowered head, bounding from the sheen of his golden blonde hair. The trees gasped in the gusts with an awkward finality before settling calmly in their place. Sabre's mind wondered the skirts of his memory. He thought of his brothers, younger than himself, displaying their hard earned talents with such contentment (although sabre would have called it bragging). His father had spent so much time with them, even Onyx who hadnt any talents at that time. But Sabre seemed forgotten in all the commotion, and spent his days dreaming of what he might be bestowed with when his time came. His family changed dramatically when the eldest brother, Damion, had received his talents, and even more so when spencer joined his brother. Their father did little else than help his sons to understand the brilliance of the gift that exsisted in their family line. Onyx grew slowly apart from his youngest brother. They had once been so close, realising that only one another could relate to the obsurb longing for their promised talents. But Onyx began to come of age and left Sabre behind with a great intention to join the older boys.
Sadly, Onyx never got his fathers praise, and sabre never will. Their father was murdered soon before Onyx reached his talents. Consumed by hatred of their fathers gift, his long forgotton sister had entered her brothers house one winter night and taken his life, and her own. She wanted to end the ghastly ritual, spare future daughters and sisters the pain of growing up in sight of something better, but unable to obtain it for herself. Little did she know, that in that same house were four sleeping sons, left behind by her brother, that would feed the vision into many generations to come. Her vicious intentions were all for nothing, but even so the four sons could not find justice in any of it, as nothing in the world could replace their beloved father. A mother perhaps? If only they had one.
Sabre understood why Onyx was always such an angry person, he never got what he tried so hard to obtain- his fathers appreciation. That raw anger he had felt after his fathers death triggered his talents immediately. It seems the closer he got to what he wanted, the harder he fell when it was pulled out from underneath him. And with that thought thought in his mind, Sabre turned hesitantly and walked back to the cottage.
