I heard muttering in my mind, mostly about my physical condition.
I wondered what had happened to that Ger guy. Where’d he go?
Didn’t matter though, what mattered was that I got patched enough to get out. From the muttering in my mind it seemed my body was healing at twice the normal rate for one newly Bonded and my mind seemed to be forming a seal around itself, like a Band-Aid or a scab, while it rearranged things. Thanks to that mutt Ger, my mind had been scrambled a bit, turned up side down and shaken. The only links leading in were the Bond ones and it seemed that my mind was still trying to fight. The mutterer seemed to think it was doing this to protect itself while it got everything sorted. Also, the Bond process shaking may have knocked some things loose.

-So, why can I hear muttering if my minds all Sealed up?- I wondered drowsily.

The muttering stopped with a feeling of startlement. Also, the healer girl took her hands from my body.

I opened my eyes and saw her face. She was startled.

“You are?…” I asked weakly. I still felt exhausted but in a lot less pain. The burning and hammered meat feeling was gone. There were still minor ouches but the major ones, especially the knee, had died down.

“Aminka,” she told me, “Currently in charge of sick bay.”

“So young,” I murmured, “Sorry. Your eyes… so much pain. Thanks… for your help.”

I was lifted gently out of the water, dried and wrapped in a robe. I couldn’t stay conscious but I knew I had to get out of here and fast. Before that Ger boy returned. I had to get back to my family… at least to tell them that I wouldn’t be around in the future and to say goodbye. First off though, I needed to be able to stay awake for more than say five minutes. I could sense Aminka’s presence in the room.

((‘Minka.)) I called softly. Again I sensed startlement. ((I’m Nick…)) I sensed a startled look. ((Short for Necara. Thanks for all…)) I passed out again.
