To tell the truth?
Sometimes, yeah.
Other times, no.
Lying is something we all do.
No matter how pure and innocent you think you are, you've lied.
Get over it, I know it's true.
Something also true: we have to lie.
Sometimes.
For example, not wanting to hurt a loved one's feelings.
Or, to protect yourself.
To protect another.
To gain something.
To lose something.
Whatever motive we may have, we avoid the truth.
Why?
Is it so hard?
Just because you have to lie, doesn't mean you should go an make an art of it.
Here:

A: "Hey honey, does this dress make me look fat?"
B: "...No"
A: "Thanks!"

Did person B have to lie? No. But, perhaps it was better. Hurt feelings, and possibly physical beings, were avoided. Fine. You lied.
But, here's another:

A: "Dude, I totally owned a guy in my math class today! I kicked his a**!"
B: "Really?"
A: "Yeah, man!"
B: "Cool"

Is a lie like that really necessary? Hell no. I've noticed people who have a tendency to lie just to start conversation. What? Why? It's ridiculous.
Why would people lie for no reason?
I think it's because people avoid the truth.
I mean, why explain an overly boring math class when you could spin yourself a cutesy little "badass" tale about beating up a freshman?
I mean, it's exciting, it makes you look cool, and maybe you'll all get a little chuckle out of it.
But still, it's lying.
It builds a habit.
It builds an art.
You become better and better.
And soon, you can manipulate friends and family.
Perhaps get away with certain, illegal, things.
All for the best?
No.
Worth a few cheap laughs?
No.
So, where am I going with all this?
Well, I'm tired of being lied to.
That was incredibly hypocritical of me.
I lie a lot.
I have to.
Or I'd like to think I do.
But, there's a difference.
I have my reasons for lying.
I'm sure you do too.
I'm not saying mine trump your's.
But, I don't lie for no reason.

Do you?
No?
Thought so.
Wait, did you lie to me just then?
You did?
Well, you just told the truth.
Was that hard?
Didn't think so.

It's as easy as that.
Or so we'd like to think.
Nobody's perfect.
But, I won't be lied to for no reason anymore.
You don't have to do it.
So don't.
I know humans are lazy by nature.
If we weren't, communism would work.
If you're going to lie to me for no apparent reason, don't even talk to me.
If you have a reason, tell me.
I'd love to help.
Why?
That's on a need to know basis.
