Chapter 2: A New Beginning
So we have a couple of days off till we go to the Country of the Phoenix. What do you want to do until then?
I don’t know should we be practicing more, said Kai
What? Practice? Whatever you want to do is fine but that sounds like a lot of work.
Laziness was always Zach’s weak point. Laziness and girls.
Well whatever you do I’ll see you later, said Kai
Ok c ya!
Kai started to go home; on his way he saw May and decided to say hi.
Hey May are you ready to go to the Country of the Phoenix.
Of course, wont it be exciting, we finally get to go out of this country and travel to others.
Yep, so since were in the same regiment it’s going to be easy, said Kai.
Ha, ha, ha, I hope you guys don’t plan on slowing me down.
Ya, well we’ll see about that. And with that Kai jumped out of sight.

It was Friday, May, Kai, John, Nami, and Max all met at the border between the neutral country and the Country of the Phoenix. There they met one person, Kisho, their emotionless soon to be drill sergeant.
Congratulations recruits you managed to pass the first test, said Kisho
Wait, what test, said Zach
What you didn’t notice people attacking you?
Of course we did Kai almost got hurt!
Well lucky for him.
Now I have one rule here. You do whatever I say whenever I say, that way you won’t be killed.
Wait that hardly seems fair, said Nami.
Well life’s not that fair, now is it, said Kisho.
Now follow me to your camp.
It was at least three hours until they got there.
You got to be kidding me that took forever, said Zach.
As you might all know each country is known for their warriors, said Kisho.
No duh, whispered Zach
Ow, why did u throw that pencil at me?
Because you were talking, said Kisho.
Well like I was saying each warrior has a rank in which you might now how powerful that soldier is. The lower the number the stronger the soldier.
We still do not know your rank but don’t get too excited over it. We have some good low numbers.


Ok recruits you have an hours rest until you run to the capital and back if you don’t make it in time you don’t get dinner.
But we don’t know where the capital is, said May.
Well that’s your problem now isn’t it, said Kisho. So you’d better rest up.
An hour later all five of them were lined up.
Ok recruits GO!
All five of them start off. Max took the first right in the first fork that came up. Kai was about to follow him, but Zach went to the left along with May so he followed them instead
Forty minutes later Kai and Zach got to the city.
We only have twenty minutes are we going to make it, asked Kai
I don’t know it will be pushing it, said Zach
Twenty-one minutes later they arrived back at camp only to see May there.
Dang it, I knew we should have followed her, said Zach.
May walked past Kai and said in a joking manner.
You’re slowing me down.
Then she left
Kai looked back to see Max and Nami arrive. He heard Zach bragging to himself about beating Max. Kai went over to Nami who seemed embarrassed.
Don’t worry, Kai said, we didn’t make it either
She turned redder.
What is it, asked Kai
Umm…I kinda got caught in a trap. You know one of those stupid ones that hang you upside down in a tree. Well Max had to come back and get me. So I slowed both of us down.
Kai started to laugh.
It’s not funny, said Nami.
Sure it is, said Kai.
She hit him, pretty hard too.
