I love to browse the A/M/C, because every once in a while, you get the little lost roleplayer who doesn't quite know where the Barton Town forum is, until a reg points him or her in the right direction. Today in the GD, however, we had a little girl who claimed to be an honest-to-god fairy (anyone think of Tingle from The Legend of Zelda right there?). On top of that, even, she was a fairy princess. I start to think to myself, "where have I heard that one before?"
Then it hits me.
I used to post with a bunch of young Tokyo Mew Mew fans on an AOL board, which they were primarily using for roleplaying TMM (which they seldom called Mew Mew Power, despite that being the name of the forum, damn weeaboos). We're talking 8-12 year olds, still in elementary school. We had a certain character, named Tsukiko. I guess she was a normal TMM character at first, (or she was when I joined the forum), but I guess another character, named Kera, thought it'd be a good idea to test her for demonic powers. Kiko tested positive, and as soon as this was found out, our little RPer was willing to milk it for all it was worth.
It all started with the finding out she was a panda demon thing, which I was kinda okay with. Then she lets out the bombshell that she's a demon princess, and her father is the most powerful demon in the world. wtf? How does that happen? She gave no implication that she just kind of "discovered" it all of a sudden, she seemed to hint that she knew all along. Looks like someone wanted special treatment.
And as if that weren't enough, she not only became the ruler of the demon world, but...Italy? Why Italy? I think Italy's just fine, I don't think they need any sort of demon queen. Not to mention that she can't die. Uh, don't they call that godmoding? Well, no one makes the rules on the AOL forums except for the AOL moderators, who know nothing about roleplaying apparently, and figured the boards would just be used for discussion. Uh, on an anime forum? Wrong-o.
So with that, I gave up on roleplaying, hung up my cat ears, and began blogging. And damn it I'm glad I did. Or I would've ended up like Tsukiko.
And don't get me wrong, all kinds of power is really tempting, but...I'm not a weeaboo.
