I am what I am because whenever I try to be something else for too long, I end up drained. Luckily I am rather mutable but I still manage to put my flavor to what I can become. In a few ways, I am still figuring out what I am, which sounds rather sad objectively but least I am making the effort, I suppose.
As for why I dominate, I protect that which I cherish. I want to help those I love grow and I am discovering that I somehow missed things in my life that I should have embraced earlier. I am discovering more about those I care about and finding that they need me, want me to take charge and care for them. I owe it to them to deserve and earn that so I am here learning.
I find a rush in the power and a sense of purpose in the control, realizing what needs to be done. I have found the sexual benefits to be great, knowing what I can do with my voice and hands that I had only been dabbling in before.
Even in the thread, I find myself taking charge because I care and I want to protect those I find needing direction. I've always cared for others before myself but rankle at obeying another.
So there ya go, the Service Dom Incubus.
