“Azu?” I called softly, “Can you tell me what’s going on? Why can I taste the air and how’d I check on Brat Boy’s condition like that. Come to think of it… Why do I know to ask you for answers?”

Azu appeared at my side as I stripped off and jumped into the shower. She looked as troubled as I felt.

“Since I assumed the greater portion of your pain your body has hastened your healing processes still further. It’s truly fascinating how your body has approached and dealt with the problems posed by your condition. I know this because your body has taped into and used my systems and senses to monitor its progress from without… and incorporate a few things it liked from my systems into yours while it was rearranging and rebuilding things. Also, those… abilities that were loosed during the Bonding process have been mostly incorporated into your systems as well. Your mind seems to be taking the opportunity to re organize itself. You now use these abilities with the automatic ease with which your heart beats, or your pre improved senses work.”

“Pre improved? You mean my senses have been tweaked too?”

“That was why you were having fits and getting headaches.”

“Charming. Wait a sec. You mean I completely violated your systems in my sleep?! Oh crap! Azu, I’m so sorry!”

“It is all right. It wasn’t done maliciously and this is my function for the moment. To monitor your health and recovery.”

“But not to have your own systems jacked into by someone you’ve known for less than a week.”

‘Strange… I find I don’t mind having you inside me systems. You are not trying to control me. You are merely using me as a control system.

“Ah well. I think I’ll go back to school tomorrow. So, what happens then? Do you still have to hang about and wait on me or do you go back to the Psi Plains?”
