Namu's Story
Chapter 1: The Death of Nick Chopper.
Steel Town was the industrial town of the South. Everything considered mechanical either came from there or the labratory of the Witch of the South, Kizena. Today was a beautiful May day. The cherry trees on the side of the street were in bloom, only to be disturbed by the wind. And the only thing that disturbed them, were the feet of students of Steel Town High. One of them was Nicholas Chopper. Nick was your average high school student; fun-loving, carefree, and usually happy as a clam. This was one of those moments. He had black shaggy hair, kept under a bright red ball cap that beared the initals S.T. and his chocolate brown eyes sparkled in the sun. He wore his school uniform casually, the jacket hanging limp from his shoulders, fluttering in the breeze and the belt loose. He clutched his bookbag tightly and hummed to himself all that day. Soon school would be out. But, this time it was special. On the last day of school, He and his friends would graduate. "Nick!" Nick heard from behind him. He turned and saw two teens his age running up to him. One was a boy with spiked maroon hair, the other was a girl with brown hair tied into a french braid. Both wore the same school uniforms as him and they seemed pretty darn happy to see him. The boy jumped on his friend and gave him a noogie. "Hey, Nick! You know, it's very rude to run off without your friends." "Sorry, Peter." Nick apoligized. The girl hugged him, swooning, "Hi, honey." "Hi, Sophie." Nick smiled, hugging her back. "Are you nervous about graduation?" she asked. "No, not at all." Nick denied. He was actually very nervous.
The trio kept walking and talking for about a few miles. Eventually,Peter and Sophie started falling back, and Peter said, "Ok, we'll see ya later, dude." Nick walked ahead and waved at his friend and girlfriend, "See you at graduation." Nick walked alone for a few extra miles, unknowingly walking into the drunkard area of town. The road ahead was clear, except for a few stranded empty alcohol bottles. Nick picked one up, shaking his head, "It's disgraceful how some people drown their lives with this poison." He tossed it in the direction of a trash bin nearby. He began to cross, when he heard the sound of horse hooves pounding the ground. He glanced in that direction in time to see a fast wagon coming at him...way too fast. His bookbag went flying, landing behind him a few feet. The driver didn't even stop, but the next one that came ran him over on accident and skidded to a stop. "Please be a dog or a deer or somethin'." He muttered to himself. He turned, trembling and saw Nick's unconcious body, a pool of blood forming around his head.
The driver jumped out of his wagon and turned Nick's body rightside up, lightly smacking him. "Oi, kid, are you ok?' Nick didn't answer. "Oh, crap." he muttered. He saw another wagon coming up and began to flag him down. Meanwhile, a few minutes ago, Peter and Sophie heard the crash. "Alright!" Peter cheered. "Being hit by a wagon isn't funny, Peter." Sophie scolded. Peter begged his little sister, "C'mon, let's just go see what happened." Sophie shrugged, "I guess, so we can help who got hit." They turned and ran in the other direction. By the time they got there, they found that others heard the collision and formed a thick crowd. "Can't see nothin'." Peter said, trying to see through the crowd. Sophie sighed. "Hey, who do you think got hit?" she asked. "I think that it was Mr. Core...or the mailman. His time had to come at some point." Peter muttered. Sophie looked around and recognized this part of town: Nick came through here on his way home from school. "You don't think that...?" Sophie started, but Peter knew what she was gonna ask. He put a hand on his little sister's head and reassured her, "There are many people that would be hit in this town, but I absolutely, positively doubt that it was-" Peter looked through a crack in the crowd and saw his best friend being lifted into an ambulance. "Nick!!!" They both shouted. This caught the weak Nick's attention. "P-Peter? S-Sophie?" he groaned, glancing in their direction. He saw them push their way through the crowd and to his side. Sophie grabbed his hand, tears pouring from her eyes. "Nick, please tell me you're ok." she begged. "I-I'm fine." He said weakly, wincing as his mangled ribs racked him with pain. "No, you're not." Peter said, a lone tear running down his face.
Nick placed a hand on his best friend's shoulder and said, "I promise that I'll come back. Beleive me." The paramedics loaded him into the ambulance and he got one last chance to wave to his friends before it drove off, leaving Sophie to sob into her big brother's chest and Peter to mentally beg his friend to come back safe. Neither knew that fate had other plans. In the ambulance, Nick suffered. His head was bleeding out of control and his heart was working too hard, about to burst. "We're losing him." One paramedic paniced. The other said to Nick, "Hang in there, kid. Don't die on us." But it was too late. Visions began to flash before him, his life. And a few moments that he never lived. A vision of the Witch of the South, a girl with navy blue hair and a sweet smile and three shadowy silhouettes. And with his last breath, Nick croaked, "World, I'll miss ya." With that, Nick's head became loose on it's hinges and his eyes faded. The second paramedic began to freak. "Hey!!! Wake up!!!" The first knew what happened and shut off the life support system. "What are you doing!!!???" The second screeched. The first sighed, "We lost him." The second paramedic gazed at the ground sadly. "Let's face it. We suck." he sighed. But what they didn't know was that Nick would soon live again.

Awww, this is so sad. cry But don't worry. As they say, "As one's story ends, another's begins." So, As Nick dies, Namu will be born...But still: crying
P.S. Yes, I'm calling the Witch of the South, Kizena. For some reason, Baum called one witch...Tattypoo. *hacks* Um, no! scream I REFUSE TO CALL ANY OF THE WITCHES TA...TAT...ugh, IT!!!
P.P.S. Yes, if you've ever watched Excel Saga, this scene was inspired by when Excel was ran over by that car in the 1st episode.
