Unlikely Heroes
Chapter 4: The Silent Man
Lucy woke up sore that morning. Hey, you try walking for hours and vear off the road at night to sleep on the cold hard ground. And yet, Lucy felt safe with Freddy's arm around her, even with his blades lightly scratching her side. The sun shone in her eyes, temporarily blinding her. Tapping Freddy's forehead, she sleepily said, "Krueger. Morning. Up."
Freddy groaned and flipped over, saying, "5 more minutes." Lucy stood up with a smirk. She looked up to Edgar, who was perched in the tree above them. "Edgar, help me out here!" She called up to him. Freddy pushed himself up and grumbled, "Alright. I'm up." Lucy offered him a hand up and before they knew it, they were moving once again. "Where are we going again?" Freddy asked. Lucy pulled out one of the slips of paper and read off, "Camp Crystal Lake." She didn't need to say more.
"Wha!?" Freddy groaned. "Ugh, not him again!" "Who're you talking about?" Lucy asked. "Voorhees!" Freddy huffed. A bell went off in Lucy's mind. "Jason Voorhees!?" Lucy gasped. Freddy nodded hastily, his angry expression unchanging. "From Friday the 13th!?" Lucy squealed like a fangirl. Freddy's nod was uneasy as he looked at Lucy like she was crazy. "I love Friday the 13th!" Lucy smiled. "Next to Nightmare on Elm Street, it was probably the first slasher movie I obsessed over!"
Lucy continued to fangirl about Friday the 13th as the trio continued, much to Krueger's dismay. Edgar perched on Freddy's hat. He didn't want to say anything, but Lucy was boring the poor raven. Suddenly, Lucy ran into a pole. Staggering backwards, Lucy glanced up the pole and saw a sign that read 'Camp Crystal Lake.' With an excited smile, Lucy continued into the middle of the camp entrence.
A cold shiver ran down Freddy's back. He felt followed. He turned around and found nothing. Still suspicious of it, he unconciously wrapped a protective arm around Lucy. "What?" Lucy asked, gazing at Freddy. Freddy didn't have time to answer. He ducked as to dodge the blow of the machete that was aiming for his neck. Lucy's eyes followed the machete and up the man's arm.
Eventually, she found herself staring at the famous hockey mask that belonged to none other than Jason Voorhees. Lucy was overcome with excitement that she could only stammer in surprise. Jason silently pulled the machete from the tree trunk that it hit, letting Freddy's fedora fall to the ground. Freddy stood up, irritably snatching his hat from the ground and putting it back on his head, cursing under his breath. Jason gave Freddy a stare that said, 'What the hell are you doing here!?' Freddy scoffed and said, "We meet again, huh, Jason?"
Lucy stopped stammering when she saw Freddy's gloved hand flex. "I guess you'd like Round 2, huh?" Freddy smirked. Jason readied his machete, nodding slightly. Freddy paused with a smirk. "As you wish!" Before Lucy knew it, Freddy sped forward, grabbed Jason by the collar and tossed him towards the lake. "Wh-!?" Lucy gasped. Freddy ran towards the fallen zombie and lept over him, landing in the water. "C'mon!" Freddy smirked. "Gimme somethin' to work with!"
Jason stood up and was about to strike Freddy when he stopped almost immediately. Jason gazed down fearfully at the water and backed up a few paces. Freddy folded his arms across his chest and chuckled. 'I'm glad I rememebered that.' he thought, completely releived. With a sinister laugh, Freddy flexed his gloved hand and began to charge forward. Jason shook his head, trying to shake his fear of water away and charged towards Freddy.
Suddenly, two pale hands stopped the both of them. "That's enough!" Lucy snarled angrily. Lucy shoved the two away from each other. "Now, Krueger!" Lucy sneered at Freddy. "Would you like to explain to me what's going on here?" Freddy sighed and said, "We still have a grudge against each other. We had one ever since the Freddy vs Jason incident."
Lucy cocked an eyebrow at the dream killer. "Freddy vs Jason?" she asked. "The 2004 movie." Freddy said, somewhat confused that a woman that loved his series wouldn't have seen that one. "Oh, that explains it." Lucy said. "I died in 1987." "Oh." Freddy chuckled. "Well, I'm pretty sure that whatever happened between you two wasn't bad enough to make you fight the moment you see each other." Lucy pointed out. She turned to Jason and asked, "Right?"
Jason's eyes widened as soon as he saw her and his grip on his machete loosened, letting the weapon fall to the ground. The way he saw Lucy changed dramaticlly. He saw her long, wet hair flow in the breeze, her red eyes sparkle and a smile that wasn't really there. "Well?" she asked him a second time, getting irritated. Edgar perched on Jason's head and lightly tapped Jason's mask with his beak, snapping Jason out of his trance. "You probably should respond." Edgar said. Jason only shrugged. "Do you talk?" Lucy asked. Jason shook his head 'no'. Lucy paused for a few seconds, looking somewhat concerned. "Can you?" she asked concernedly. Jason shrugged. He never really tried.
Lucy remembered something. "Oh, Edgar." she said. "You said you were telepathic, right?" Edgar nodded. "Then maybe you could be Jason's interpretator." Edgar smiled a raven smile. "I'll do my best." he promised. Freddy chuckled lightly. "So, what's he saying now?" he asked Edgar jokingly. Jason was glaring at Freddy at the moment. Edgar focused on Jason for a few seconds and stifled a laugh. "Boy, you don't want to know what kind of things he's calling you right now." Edgar laughed.
Freddy groaned angrily. "So, then..." Lucy said to Jason. "Do you want to come with us...Jason?" Jason hastily nodded, almost knocking Edgar to the ground and jumped to Lucy's side. Lucy laughed lightly. "Great." She pulled the last slip of paper from her pocket and read it aloud. "..........I don't recognize this address." Lucy said, sweatdropping. "We'll figure it out." Freddy nodded, keeping his distance from Jason. Lucy tried to remember what the address would mean. Last she remembered, back in her innocent, little girl days, that was where the Giggle Kid Toy Company factory was.
