"Good job you two." said Emil. They were leaving out of the Flyer Base in Ohtoku City. Ami and Kyoh gave a sigh in response. "So much in fact, I think I can see your licenses coming in the near future." This made them smile. Seeing them smile made Emil smile. He was strict at times, but he had a special spot for them. "That should be it for today. So we'll disband for now." Emil started to walk off. Ami looked down at something. "Hmmm. It doesn't look like we'll be called tomorrow." Kyoh gave a nod. "Do a free mission tomorrow?" She shrugged. "Sure why not?" She stretched her arms. "It'll feel nice to do a mission in our civillian clothes for a change." "Oi! Kyoh! Ami!" shouted someone.
The two turned around to see Ethan and Hyuga walking towards them. "You guys finished for today too?" asked Kyoh. Ethan gave a nod. "Yeah, and you?" "Same. Want to ride the shuttle together?" Ami's face turned pale at the suggestion. "I don't see why not." Ethan noted. Ami walked off in front of them. "Well if you don't want to wait a hour for the next one, hurry up."
The four sat in silence for half of the trip. Luckily, it was Ethan sitting beside Ami in the back. "It seems like years since we've been like this." he said. Kyoh's eyes widened. "You two not busy tomorrow right? How about you join up with me and Ami while we do a free mission or so?" Hyuga shrugged his shoulders. "It could help with training." Ethan waved it off. "I'm always up for it." Ami sighed while repeatedly tapping her head against the glass. Then there was some more silence. "What happened to Instructor Erra?" Ami asked. "She had some personal business to take care of." Ethan answered.
After the shuttle ride, the four were standing in the P.P.T. Port. Kyoh went and gave Ehtan and Hyuga his partner card. "Hopefully we won't be busy to do some missions." Ami passed hers along without saying anything. "The mission was tiring, so I'm going to the barracks. See you later." "Oh, okay," said Kyoh, "We're meeting in Parum at noon, in the cafe." Ami gave a nod. "Got it."
"She has changed." Ethan noted. Hyuga looked at him. "Ami? A little." he said. "She seems like she's troubled with something. Hey go talk to her." "What? Why me?" he asked. Ethan looked at him for a moment. "Because, you can maybe woo her to talk." "That's not funny Ethan." he said. Hyuga sighed as he walked. "I'll do it because I'm a bit concerned as well. What's the worse that could happen?" "She could beat you up." Ethan remarked. "You're not helping."
Hyuga arrived at Ami's room. He rang the bell. At first, there was nothing. Then it opened. On the other side is Megami. "Hello." "Hello to you too." he said kindly to the machine, "Is Ami in?" "Yes, but she is busy. Would you like to come in and wait?" "If I'm not imposing. Thank you." Once he went inside, he noticed that some of the decorations Ami had were Neudaiz inspired. There were a few pictures scattered on her desk. He picked up a family photo. The door opened.
"Megami, did you get the do-" Ami stopped at seeing Hyuga. Ami just came out of the shower with just a towel on. Hyuga was trying his best not to stare at her while she was trying to not hit him. "Megami....when I'm in the shower, just tell them to come back another time." The machine floated around. "Yes Ami, I'll make a note of it." Ami held her hand tightly to the towel, hoping it won't fall. "You'll have to excuse her." "No problem, but I really can't talk to you while looking like that." She blushed. "Yeah, I know. Your reputation proceeds you. Excuse me."
A few moments later, Ami came out with a robe. It wasn't what anyone had in mind, but it was better than a towel. "So what brings you to my room?" Hyuga picked up the family photo. "This is your mother?" Ami looked at it. "Yeah. People think we're a bit like sisters. My father left when I was seven and that was when her health declined. When I could, I would help her. My father came back just when I was returning from Clyez to tell them I was becoming a Guardian." She sighed a bit, crossing her legs. "I don't hate him. But he feels like a stranger. He left for ten years without a word." "Well, maybe it was to protect you and your mother." he said. "I guess so. But you never answered my question." "Oh right." he said, "Just wanted to make sure you are okay. You look like something is burdening you." Ami got up. "I'm fine. Field training takes a lot out of me." He got up. "Okay, if you say so. Don't hesitate to call if you need to talk. See you tomorrow." After he left Ami let out a sigh. "I'm going to bed. Goodnight Megami." "Goodnight Ami." She said back.

Ami had some time before she had to meet up with the guys in Parum, so she spent it shopping in Clyez. She had gotten a new twin dagger and some new clothing. Today she was wearing a white and blue Prita shirt and blue HUnewearl bottoms with her grey Fujiji boots. She kept her hair plain. She looked at her watch. "I should go and take the shuttle." She began running. Ami didn't forget what she and Hyuga talked about. 'Maybe he did leave for that. Couldn't he had told Mom though?' She sighed. "I'm really going to have a talk with him when I visit."
"You're not late for a change." said Kyoh. Ami pouted when she arrived. "Shut it. I haven't been late for anything in a while." Kyoh stood up. "So what are we up to for today?" Ethan and Hyuga were looking through the free missions available to them. "How about suppressing a De Regan?" asked Ethan. Ami looked over the mission details. "Something so big though?" "As long as you aim for the head it shouldn't be too difficult." said Hyuga. Ami sighed. "I really don't care at this point." "Whipping a De Regan it is."
"What have we gotten ourselves into...." Ami said. They had gotten to the nesting grounds easily enough. But facing a dragon about twice the size of the headquarters is something completely different. It growled at the group. "Ami," said Ethan, "You specialize in twin daggers right? It might be best if you have some ranged weapons." Ami was surprised at how Ethan was taking the role as party leader. "Right." She grabbed a wand. "Everyone, stay close to me for a bit." She concentrated her will into the wand and felt the photons gathering. At that moment, everyone felt their strength increasing. "I didn't know you knew Shifta." he said. "Well, I'm sometimes makeshift support. I'm about to perform Deband so get ready." A few more moments and everyone felt their defense increasing as well. Ami then switched her wand for a rifle. The photon barrel was blue. "I'll try to aim for it's head." The males got out their weapons. Ethan and Hyuga with sabers while Kyoh had a twin saber. "Let's try not to get killed." said Kyoh.
Ami ran towards the back of the dragon while the males were attacking at the legs and tail. She looked through the scope and began aiming at the wings. The De Regan let out a screech in pain. It opened it's mouth and three fireballs came out of it. Under normal circumstances, the heat alone should have killed them. But their line shields, embedded in their clothing, was put up. It made the attacks a bit bearable. "Kyoh! Ethan!" shouted Ami, "change into ice imbued weapons. It has a weakness to them." Ethan shook his head. "I don't have one." 'God dammit' she thought. She ran around again this time in front of the dragon. She looked through the scope to aim right at it's head. "Gotcha." she said with a smile. She shot at it a few times. With each shot, the De Regan let out a deafening screech. With their combined efforts, the dragon was taken down. Everyone was out of breath and slightly sweating from the heat. "That was fun..." Ami said. The others agreed. "Ami! Behind you!"
It was like a flurry of movements. The De Regan had one more attack in it. It used the last of it's strength to launch a fireball at Ami. Hyuga pushed Ami out of the way, barely missing them. The two rolled down a hill to the ground with him on top of her. "You okay?" he asked. Ami was blushing. "I'm fine. Thanks." The two stayed like for a few moments. "You guys okay?" shouted Ethan from top of the hill. That snapped them out of it and realized the compromising position they were in. Hyuga got up first. "We're fine. Just dirty." he remarked. Ami noticed a small rip on his jacket. "You must have done that when we rolling down the hill." He noticed it as well. "Well it's just a small scratch." Ami placed her hand over the wound. "I insist." A small machine floated around her. He had felt all the pain going away as the machine worked with Ami. "It's only Resta, but it should do."
The two made it back where Ethan and Kyoh were. "Ami you look horrible." Kyoh remarked. She looked at herself. She was feeling a bit sweaty and the dirt from the tumble just made her clothes dirty and it sticking to her body via the sweat. "What does it matter? I rather be dirty than burnt thanks." Everyone was nodding in agreement. "Lets go collect our bonus and go home."
The four had gotten some looks when arriving back to Clyez City. "Well I'm going to take a shower." said Kyoh. "We should do it again sometime." Ethan said. Those two left. Ami was feeling a bit awkward. "Really, thank you for today." she said. Hyuga was taken aback by it. "It's fine. I couldn't let you get hit." "I owe you one." she said. He gave a slight smile before looking down at his watch. "I need to get freshened up. I have to attend an outing tonight." Ami sighed a bit, throwing her arms up. "You mean date. You haven't changed one bit." He looked at her surprised. "Why does it sound like you're hurt by it?" Ami looked away. "I'm not. Just ashamed." "How about you and I go-" She glared at him. "Don't even try it. I'm dirty and sweaty, you really don't want to test me. Now excuse me."
Ami got back to her room. "Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Why did I think he would change?" She stopped before going into a full rant. 'Why do I care anyway? He's just an old classmate. But I did use to have a little thing for him. No! Not that again!' She stomped off to the bathroom and prepared for a shower. She stripped off her dirty clothes and jumped inside. She then took the shampoo and started washing her hair. Just thinking about what happened between Hyuga and she made her mad. She scrubbed, borderline pulled her hair. "I'm so hopeless." she said.
