Chapter Two - Friends, Foes and Plans
Kagome and InuYasha jumped out of the well and, as Kagome rode on InuYasha's back, ran towards the nearby village. Kagome began to notice that ominous black clouds were rolling in and the wind was whipping their faces violently. Thunder could be heard from miles away.

"Do you smell blood InuYasha?" yelled Kagome over the violent winds.

"No, it's gone away," InuYasha yelled back. "The wind must be blowing the scent off, I've lost him."

Oh no... what if he gets lost here? Still, as bad as this weather is right now... does it have something to with that stranger?

"We should stay in Old Kaede's village, InuYasha," suggested Kagome. "We won't be able to look for him in this weather."

"Okay," agreed InuYasha. So they ran inside the village and into one of the houses. As they rushed inside, they saw a man dressed in blue monk's robes, a woman in a pink, green and white kimono holding what resembled a two-tailed cat, and a child who resembled that of a little fox.

"Kagome!" yelped the child in glee, and he leapt in Kagome's arms.
Kagome caught him and hugged him. "It's nice to see you too, Shippo!"

"Welcome back Kagome," said the monk. "It seems you guys got caught in the bad weather, too."

"How long has it been going on?" asked Kagome.

"It's only begun recently," answered the woman. "A few minutes ago, I think."

"And where's the old woman, Kaede?" asked InuYasha. "Don' tell me she's in the middle of it all."

"Are you worried, InuYasha?" asked the monk skeptically with a smile. "I've never seen this side of you before. Isn't that right, Sango?"

"I must say," said Sango, "you certainly are changing, InuYasha."

"Quit the crap and answer the question!"

"Okay, okay," said Miroku, raising his hands in defense, "no need to get pushy, she's outside."

"Kagome," began Sango, "how was your battle with 'Geography Test'?"

Kagome hung her head.

"That bad, huh?"

No, I just keep forgetting you guys don't understand my world...

At that moment, an old woman walked inside the house, windswept and out of breath. She wore a white kimono and a red hakama and carried a bow and a quiver of arrows.

"Kaede!" said Kagome, looking at her in concern.

"Ah, the winds are not happy; I sense danger in the future."

"Aw, quit with your creepy talk," interrupted InuYasha. "We'll be fine. It's just you who seems to be in danger. Even I have the common sense not to go walkin' in the middle of a thunderstorm."

"Aye, that may be, InuYasha," said Kaede, " but ye have yet to understand my reasons for doing so. I sensed something not to long ago, towards the forest."

Kagome and InuYasha both raised their heads to Kaede. "You sensed something?" asked Kagome.

"Why, yes, it felt like something was calling to me, but faintly, mind ye."
Kagome and InuYasha exchanged looks. They both thought that it might have something to do with the man they were chasing.

"Is something the matter Kagome?" asked Kaede with concern.

"I'm going," announced InuYasha.

"You're crazy!" rebutted Kagome. "Not during a storm, you're not. We can wait until tomorrow, InuYasha."

"Teh," responded InuYasha. "Just because you can't stand a little wind doesn't mean I can't. I'm gonna go look for 'im and--"

"InuYasha, sit!" said Kagome. The beads around InuYasha's neck glowed and pulled him to the ground. InuYasha fell face-first into the ground with impeccable force, and everyone's faces contorted with pain-- except Kagome's.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR!?" yelled InuYasha in anger, lifting his head up in pain.

"For being stupid," responded Kagome indignantly.

"Oh, I'm stupid!?" yelled InuYasha, his face now close to Kagome's. "You're the one who's gonna let the freak go, and I'm stupid!? He clawed my hand, remember that!?"

Kagome was growing angrier; her face showed it. She was turning into a monster before everyone. InuYasha began to shrink in fear.

"I said we can look for him tomorrow, InuYasha," she growled, "when the storm clears up."

"Okay, okay," said InuYasha, his voice shivering in fear. "Look for him tomorrow, right. Heh heh..."

"Kagome's scary when she's mad," whispered Shippo to Miroku and Sango.

"You're right," said Miroku, looking on in fear of Kagome's wrath.

Meanwhile, in the mountains far north of Japan, there sat a mansion of sorts; a giant temple that was composed of many rooms and buildings and hallways, one would think they'd be walking through a maze. In the center there sat a sort of being surrounded by nothing but what looked like oversized mosquitoes with big red eyes. It sat there as if meditating, planning, plotting, thinking of a new scheme to bring down those who opposed it.

Suddenly, a small, pale-skinned girl walked in, dressed in white and carrying a round mirror. She was named Kan'na, and was one of the several reincarnations of the being who sat in the room. She walked up towards the being and stood in wait.

"What is it, Kan'na?" it said in a cold, low voice. Kan'na flashed the mirror before him and pictures began to form in it. The mirror showed the raging storm that had hit the areas of Japan in the south. A face appeared from the darkness. It was a cold face, the face of an evil human. He smiled at the pictures that the mirror was showing him.

"So," he began, "it has begun, has it? And quicker than expected, too. I never thought my past would catch up with me, but it finally has. And now, the fun begins..."

Suddenly, Kan'na heard loud footsteps approach from behind, then stop behind her. By sound of its hallow breathing and growling, it must have been a huge and terrifying monster.

"Go, and greet our new friend, dreaded Oni of Hell," the being commanded. "Unleash your power upon him."

Kan'na heard the footsteps retreat back into the darkness behind her. The face disappeared back into the darkness. Kan'na remained where she was...
