His Legacy: Derek is the older of the Stauer twins. At the age of six, he was thought to have gone missing. He actually left his family in shame of his powers. Derek was always the smartest in the Stauer family (beside Sir Stauer himself). He knew how to get by even at such a young age. Running away from his family gave Derek many benefits, however. He had traveled all corners of the world by the time he was thirteen and had acquired a remarkable artistic talent. He reunited with his brother and father shortly after the kidnapping of Mae. Derek and Lucas knew how much Mae meant to the people of Selphinia so they vowed to go on a rescue mission to bring her back. They managed to, but at a price; Derek and Lucas took her spot as captives in Alto.
