Jacob found Kiko. Lying there. Dead pale, but still breathing. Terrified she wasn't going to make it, he bolted over to her table. "Kiko..?" He whispered, his voice frail and cracking. The brunette slowly turned her head. "Jake...you did keep your promise." Jacob fought the tears with that statement. "Just hang on, okay, please?" She gave out a soft giggle. "I can't promise that..." The raven shook his head and reached his hand over to her pale cheek, lightly brushing her skin. "But I promised you I'd protect you. It's only fair." Kiko slowly inched her hand on top of his, "Sometimes life isn't fair..." She turned her head away and coughed up blood. Jake immediately untied her from her bounds and slid his hands under her. Thankfully she was naturally a skinny girl, so she was quite light. She was only about 90 pounds. "Jake..." The brunette mumbled, deciding he was now being irrational. He shook his head and ignored her, holding her against his chest as he stepped over the bloody bodies of the scientists that were killing her.

Just then, a short, blue-haired girl sprinted in. "My god..." Tomoko slowly approached Jacob and Kiko. "...Kiko?" Emerald green eyes slowly shifted towards the other female. "...What do you want...you hag..." Tomo cracked a sorrowful smile. Even though she was on the brink of death, she still had the energy to insult her. "Is she gonna make it?" Jacob looked up at Tomo, then back to the small brunette in his arms. "I don't know." Jake admitted with a heaving sigh. Tomoko lightly placed her fingertips on Kiko's neck to check her pulse. "It's incredibly slow right now. I'm surprised she's still alive..." She looked up at Jake, "I think there's something that could save her. They have cures here...right?"

Kiko raised a pale arm at a cabinet. "They have some vaccines there...they found a cure for basically everything just in case if I got sick...but I don't know what they injected me with...I didn't...get a good look...at it..." She huffed, taking in a large breath of air after she had finished. Jacob set her back on the table lightly before rummaging through the tables nearby. They had to have left the syringe somewhere...but he found nothing. Tomoko was searching as well, "Find anything?" She called from across the room. The demon shook his head, "Nothing." He moved to the sinks and counters, but still hadn't found anything. Then, an optimistic voice broke through his dismal thoughts, "I think this is it!" She shuffled to the other end of the room, showing Jake the sterilized metal plate. On it was a syringe, and then a few other doctor stuff that he couldn't really understand.

"Kiko?" No answer. "KIKO?" He repeated, his voice more panicked as he rushed to the table. Her body was cold and her skin was even paler. Even her lips were blue. "No..no no no..." Tomo followed him and lightly checked her neck again. "Thank God, there's still something, but if we don't find that cure..." Jake snapped at Tomo, his eyes not moving from Kiko, "FIND IT. Please. You heard Kiko which cabinet it was in, just find it." Tears started brimming once more as he brushed her bangs from her forehead, lightly kissing it.

In a minute or so Tomo came rushing back with the syringe, "I found it." Jake took it from her and immediately stuck it in her arm. Please don't die, please don't die....I'm not breaking my promise, just please stay.... He took it out and stood, gently tucking some of her hair behind her ear. Jacob checked the little girl's pulse. Ba-dum...ba.... No beat after that. "She's...she's gone..." The raven clung to her body. Not only was she gone, but he had broken his sworn word to her. She was right. Life isn't fair. Not at all. If he could kill himself he probably would.

Tomoko rounded the table and tried to wrap her arms around him. At first he didn't hesitate, but then he stopped. "WAIT." He lifted his head and stood once more, stepping away. "You...you don't want to do that." He wiped the tears away as the girl tilted her head. "What is so wrong with you about this? First you said it was against your morals, then you said you were germ-o-phobic. What's your excuse now?" She crossed her arms. Jake heaved as his body shook, "I'll kill you. Any bodily contact with another, human or not, I will haunt you in your nightmares and kill you. And the problem is that I can't control what I do in the dreams. Kiko was the only one immune. I don't know why, but she had altered genes that were similar to mine." She gave him that infamous look that all women gave when they thought the man was crazy. "It's complicated...but please...let's not argue at a time like this..." He looked back at Kiko, who was...

MISSING FROM HER TABLE?

Jacob started to panic and searched around. Dear God what the hell was happening!? But then, on the floor of the other side of the table, there was a body. Kiko's body, but it wasn't stiff. There was a reminisce of color in her skin. And her emerald eyes slowly opened.

Was this a dream?

The demon lightly picked her up.

Even if it was a dream, he desperately did not want to wake up.

"K-Kiko?" The girl nodded slowly, "Jake?" She clutched her stomach, "Ohh..I don't feel too good..." Jacob hugged her tightly and rested his head on top of hers, "Jesus Christ Kiko.....do you mind explaining what just happened?" Kiko smiled slightly, "Time manipulation." Was all she used to explain before moving onto the next subject: Tomo. She turned the the short-haired girl. "Uhm...Thanks, Tomo....I guess you're not an evil old hag after all..." She gave a weak, embarrassed smile as Jake set her down and Tomo threw her arms around her. "And I've decided...in exchange for saving my life...I'll help create a vaccine for immunity to Jake's nightmares. Whennnn I'm feeling better...I think I gotta..." She sprinted over to the nearest trashcan and vomited. Yeah. Time manipulation puts extreme strain on her, but thankfully she didn't die this time.
