N.V.G.R #18: Wreck-It Ralph
"Sure must be nice to be the good guy..."
Despite not being a video game, I loved this movie so much that I'm reviewing it and it will probably be the only movie I'll ever review in my Video Game Reports. Nevertheless, here's my review on Disney's newest animated feature film, Wreck-It Ralph.

In Litwak's Arcade, there is one game that has remained active for over 30 years, Fix-It Felix Jr. In this classic 8-bit game, Wreck-It Ralph is the main villain of the game where he wrecks an apartment which the game titular character Felix must fix the damage. For years, due to his job, he is shunned by the Nicelanders because he's a "bad guy." Fed up with being treated as if he's really a bad person, Ralph embarks into a FPS game, Hero's Duty, to prove that he can be a hero too.

For a Disney film it is the same old story. However it sells itself with the plethora of cameos and well researched video terminology. By itself it's a great movie, but with proper knowledge of video game terminology and character knowledge, the movie becomes even better. Boasting many real video game characters such as Mario Bros' Bowser, Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog, Namco's Pac-man, and even Mortal Kombat's Kano, there is no shortage of cameos and infamous video game quirks that this movie packs all in 2 hours. Needless to say, any person who grew up in the 80's and 90's will certainly enjoy the pure nostalgia of the classic characters which we all used to shell out quarters to play.

The cast involves John C. Reilly as our burly protagonist, Fix-It Felix voiced by Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch as the no nonsense, badass Sergeant Calhoun, and Sarah Silverman as the spunky, childish Vanellope von Schweetz. Not to mention that numerous real voice actors also voice their respective characters such as Gerald C. Rivers as M. Bison and Roger Craig Smith as Sonic.

Nonny's Rating-8.5/10: Maybe because I'm a video game nut, maybe because I'm a Disney fan, or maybe because I'm both. Regardless Wreck-It Ralph is a rare video game movie that is enjoyable and is certainly one for the family to see. Regardless of age, everyone will certainly enjoy it.
