Werewolves are a bit different in this world than in normal lore, but run along the same basic outline. In this universe there are three types of the creatures, the Pure Werewolves, the Cursed Werewolves and the Dire Wolves. I'll cover all of them in detail and add things as I make them up throughout my RP life, but they'll usually stay the same basically.


Pure Werewolves

History
Pure Werewolves are the descendants of the infected mortals that Hircine turned into werewolves before Azura stopped him and created the Dire Wolves. They are about ten feet tall when full grown and age to around 800. Their metabolisms are normal at first, aging to about 20 years, then slowing down drastically to age about one year every decade until they're too old to go on living. Most times it happens around 800-850, but there are some who've aged to a thousand and higher. Pure Werewolves are completely immune to becoming Vampires.

Culture
Their Culture is very Asian-resembling except they have a female-based Matriarchy where women are held in high regards, usually running the villages and cities. They are powerful creatures though they rarely go out and kill things unprovoked. They farm and are stationary, unlike their Dire Wolf cousins, their main source of commerce coming from fishing and agriculture.

Cursed Werewolves

History
When Azura stopped the wolves from spreading the curse, she wasn't able to stop pure werewolves from doing so, but managed to make the Curse much less intense, confining it to once a month when her powers were weakest during the full moon. They only resemble the Pure werewolves physically, but are rarely as civil, tending to spread the curse and cause mayhem wherever they turn, only to turn back when the sun rises without a memory of what they've done. It's said Hircine acts through these vessels while in their fugue state, causing trouble for normal people and infecting as many as he can. They live to be as old as whatever race they were while they were infected, still retaining that same metabolism.

Dire Wolves

History
Dire Wolves are some of the rarest types of werewolves, only a few hundred of them for every ten thousand humans. They are simply large, typically Brown or Black wolves that possess the power to change into a human bearing the same traits as them in wolf form with the gift of speech. Azura gave them existence when trying to quell the Werewolf curse, a sort of personal guard for humankind. The Dire Wolves will grow to be around 670-710 years old, aging similarly to Werewolves, thought their metabolism acts just a bit faster. It is still possible for them to live to around a thousand years, just less likely.

Culture
Dire Wolves are nomadic by nature, following the migration of herds of animals and living in Dens and Packs, rather than villages and preferring to stay in their animal forms rather than the human ones, being originally wolves to begin with. They tend to have very prideful and Alpha-male-central Patriarchies that had the woman do most or all of the hunting. The Alpha was chosen in a ritual where the powerful men int he Pack would fight to the death, the one surviving allowed to mate and marry, then having the powerful females fight for the right to marry the alpha.
