He's on the edge,
she's ready to jump.
He takes a breath,
knowing that it's her last.
She takes a step
and then he falls.
No last thoughts
before she hits.
He sees a light
and then she's gone.
He loves her still
and she knows.
It's all over...
He knows she's dead.
This was inspired by a movie I once saw...I can't, for the life of me, remember the title. Most people have enjoyed this piece...though I've been told it's depressing.
The story behind this peice is basically this: A woman writes a note to her husband, telling him she's killed or is going to kill herself. As he sits down on the edge of the bed, setting down the note after just reading it, she stands on the edge of the rooftop of their apartment building, about to jump. This poem is the story of what happens to them both as this happens. Very sad...but has happened before.
