Sooooo....
Today was freshmen orientation, and as Lurker is also a freshman, we both went.
Lurker's parents gave me a ride back. All of that stuff....
Anyway, my mum wasn't home at the time, so I went back to their house for a while. Lurker had had to go to the IB information thingy in addition to the orientation doodle, so Lurker was veeeeeeery tireds. This meant I was sent home as soon as it was ascertained (sp?) that my dear mum had returned. So, as it was, I was made to walk back along that familiar path between our houses, down the oddly placed path of treeness, then down another street, turning one more time to walk down to my house at the end of my street. Amazing.
At any rate, I was at the corner before my final turn, waiting for the cars to pass, and this guy drives by with his window rolled down. I get the impression that he turns to look at me, but wasn't sure because I couldn't see his face.
This was very weird to me. People aren't supposed to look at me in my mind, a result, I suppose, of the years of verbal abuse I've received from my DEAR, DEAR peers. So, basically, I was muttering to myself things like "that is odd" and "why the hell do people look at me?" as I was crossing the street. I looked at his retreating car until I couldn't see it anymore. I then continued on my merrily dull route back home. At this point, I was walking along my fence to get to the front yard. The guy in the car couldn't know this, of course.
I trod along, still thinking "wtf, man?", when here he comes again, evidently turned completely around, back down the street. He slows down and says something like "need a ride?" He looked twenty, was wearing a shirt with no sleeves, and had tattoos of stars along his upper arm. The outlines of stars, anyway. And he was blond. I remember the important stuff, don't I? Hyuck hyuck.
Weeeeeell, I said "YEAH, I DO!" and jumped in his car.
Not.
I told him no, watched him drive away, and continued inside. I informed my mum about it, and she says to NEVER say yes. It's nice that she cares, but she doesn't really seem to trust my intelligence.
All I can say is, "WTF, MAN????"
Sooooo, to summarize, The Sarah, a fourteen-year-old girl, was walking home.
Twenty-year-old strange person drives by, looks at her (????). The Sarah continues on, thinking, "wtf, man???". Strange person returns, asks the Sarah if she needs a ride. The Sarah blinks and says, "No duckies for you, sir." Strange person drives away. The Sarah plods on, tells her mum about incident, and is treated like she is still eight.
It is possible that the Sarah looks older than she is. The Lurker, after all, was mistaken for a college student. (The Lurker is the same age as the Sarah.)
The Sarah also recalls that she was once running home (braless, she admits) and tripped on the curb. A truck of Mexicans passing by hooted her. This was several years ago. >.< She was ten or twelve. Baaadness. But that could also be a suggestion that she looks older. And she WAS dressed nicely....
Or, maybe these people are all just pediphiles. Hrm. The Sarah is now quite uncomfortable. Comfort her with comments or feel her wrath of disturbed confusion.
