I sit here in my darkness,
sorrounded by thoughts of you.
It is comforting to know,
that you are here, through and through...

My two friends are still here,
Pain and Misery.
They talk to me here,
I speak with them, conversationaly...

They offer me freedom,
they offer me choice.
But as your light comes back,
they tend to rethink their choice...

They fade into the background,
as your light offers me hope.
It leads me to a fun-filled lake,
where we rest on the beach...

Here, there are no shadows,
nothing in which i can hide.
I rely on you here,
to show me the way...

You turn and smile to me,
the smile that compliments your dark hair.
Perhaps that is why you drew me here.
We are similar, you and me...

We have both veiwed the pain,
and felt the loss of a love.
We have both taken refuge in the shadows,
like others that, before us, have come...

But here under the sun,
we enjoy each others company.
Laughing and talking,
nothing now, can make us run...

When we are together, nothing matters,
the world comes to a halt.
Why than, when we return to our lives,
do people mutter?

I do not care what they think,
it just irkes me to know.
That while she is happy with me,
that others don't want to know...

They already write us up,
like two well-known books.
That is why I have to continually retreat,
to return to these shadows...

Here in these shadows,
are friends that already know.
And here the world does not follow,
for here in these shadows,
You are already here....
