Tonight i got a request for a theme of a poem, the theme is in the title, so here goes:

Waiting out the rain...

In my short life,
here on this plot of ground.
I have had many toils and strife's,
that many people would think are profound...

As I sit here and listen,
to the latest storm outside.
I think about the storms,
that I have had to wait...

I was once a very shy guy,
who had no one as a friend.
Than one nice person,
came and took my hand...

He took me into his circle,
and there I saw new light.
But with that light came truth,
that sent me running to hide...

With that light I saw pain,
a pain of unbearable might.
This pain seeped into me,
and sent me into my eternal night...

Here I waited out the rain,
and to heal this pain.

She stretched out her hand to me,
when the rain was at its climax.
For I had lost a loved one dear to me,
and she was willing to help...

The rain cleared up,
and we were happy together.
But how blind was I?
That I did not see the storm clouds gather?

At one of my happiest points of my life,
she turned and walked away.
Than the clouds opened up,
and here in the shadows I stay...

You saw me here in the shadows,
and shyed away.
But I too, saw you,
and thought you were better this way...

You were different than her,
you have seen this pain.
You have lived through so much,
and waited with me through this rain...

Once again I had a hand extended to me,
do I take it or no?
For the last two that I had,
just got up and went...

But you smiled to me,
and held your hand out.
And just like that the clouds left,
and the rain went out...

You have shown me a better way,
of waiting the storm out.
But what is that pain that I see,
in your eyes, that fades in and out?

It feels similar to mine,
yet so alienated.
Do you also see?
The shadows that are in mine?

Perhaps one day,
when we both take shelter.
That we can tell one another,
while waiting the rain out...
