Tonight I feel this pain again,
the one that always seems to haunt me.
The one that no matter what we do,
always comes back to get me...

Why am I constantly running,
running and trying to hide?
I feel as though what's after me will "kill" me,
but what is it that's after me?

I retreat back to my shadows,
waiting for its approach.
I instead fall asleep,
and never hear its approach...

I have another dream of you,
in the moonlit glen.
But you are the same as before,
but more at home in this den...

This den of darkness,
that i have made.
Brings others to me,
others, seeking shelter from the mistakes they have made...

In this den,
is my own glen.
Made from dreams,
that have not yet come true...

You are here,
in your dark beauty.
Listening to my friends who are here,
in all their glory...

My friends, I have written about before,
but they are here for me to adore.
They range in many a color,
for they are dragons, that come to me, the caller...

I approach.
and they roar a welcome,
one that shakes the ground,
one that shakes the earth...

They have seen me through many a trial,
and have been here for me through my troubles.
Now they are also here for you,
to help you in your trouble...

In my mind, I may be a master of scales,
but in life nothing has changed.
I listen to their advice and words,
and give it to others who need the change...

They are my refuge when I run,
and they are my fortitude when I hide.
But they see that soon I will not need them,
and with that some of them hide...

They see you as a friend,
one they can trust.
What better friend can one ask for?
Especially one that will not "rust..."

I draw near to you,
and they part the way.
For they see it in our eyes,
that we now know the way...

For the brief time that we are together,
they disappear.
For they are not needed now,
with you now by my ear...
