Today, something horrible happened.
The day started out all right. I was in art class and got bored so I painted a lot of really cool dots on my hands and arms. The patterns turned out awesome and things seemed great. Then, I went to English class. My period for this month started yesterday evening so I wasn't surprised when my flow increased during class.
I was like, "Well, I'll just wait until the bell rings again, then I'll go to the bathroom." But my flow didn't ease up. Instead, it got heavier. Realizing the danger I went to the bathroom. In the hallway, I felt as though something was wrong. I became aware of a wet spot on my jeans, right in the crotch area. I walked a lot faster to the restroom.
I got there and turned in the mirror. There was a huge bloody spot back there. I was mortified. My period had never been so heavy before and I've had it regularly since 4th grade (I'm in 11th now). I called my mom from my cell phone while sitting on the toilet. She said she'd tell the office to let me leave. However, how was I supposed to get my stuff from the classroom and get down to the office and out of the school without anybody seeing.
No chance. I had a jacket, but it was short sleeved with no hood strings, so there was no way to tie it around my waist. I went to the office first and signed the checkout list. I hurried back to class and got in my seat as fast as possible. I don't know if anyone saw. I told my friend Abby what was happening and in her infinite kindness she let me borrow her jacket.
I left school and went home. I changed my clothes, took a few advil, and had a light lunch. Then Mom made me go back to school. Suprisingly, the rest of the day went really well. It was like the universe felt bad for me and decided to make my day better.
