I sit here in the rain,
listening to it fall around me.
Trying to forget the pain,
that is rushing back to me...

I raise my head to the heavens,
and close my eyes.
Letting the rain soak me to the core,
letting it wash the pain away before I die...

Last night I helped a friend,
preventing her from dying.
But at the same time she was fighting her demons,
I was also fighting mine...

I prevented her from dying,
as I know she'd wished to do.
I showed her that there are others here,
that can help you, your whole life through...

Why than, as I sit here in this rain,
do I feel that I am now in her place?
When she was crying and sharing her troubles,
why did mine have to me, face-to-face?

Her significant other came on than,
and took her away, thanking me for saving her.
But that just increased the pain,
for I truly miss you, my love...

As this rain comes down,
soaking my skin.
I open my eyes and see you standing here,
asking me why I am this dim...

I am not asking you to wash away this pain,
only the rain can do that.
You just make me forget the pain,
and help me push it away...

You than sit on my lap,
joining me in this rain.
And we are both truly happy,
here, finally, together...

You wrap your arms around me,
and we see each other face-to-face.
Perhaps for the first time,
what an amazing grace...

A tear runs down my cheek,
soon blended by the rain.
But you notice it,
and see in my eyes, the pain...

You don't say anything,
you just simply lay your head down,
against my rain-soaked shirt.
Do you also feel my pain?
As you feel this soaked shirt?

I open my eyes and see only the rainclouds,
I look back out across the way.
Knowing, that you were never really here,
you are still so far away...
