Ladybrittania's Royal Proclamation
True inspiration comes from experience, reflection and empathy.
Goodness and Light
I got up after dinner to quickly run out and return some DVDs from the weekend. Without looking outside, I picked up my coat and grabbed my shoes. Then, just as I looked out the window to open the door, a glorious sight caught my eye. It was snowing (actually it still is right now too). In a fraction of a second my mood changed from that which goes along with a ho hum, regular evening full of averageosity, to WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I love the winter. I love the beginning of winter. I love the first snowfall on a quiet evening. The flakes are big and fluffy, and the lights on our street shine with so many colours and it is so quiet. A few doors down, some kids are already out shovelling the driveway with the excitement of the first flakes. Too bad their enthusiasm will dwindle by January, but right now it's palpable. They feel what I feel. It's fresh, cold and full of beauty and magic.
So, I drove quickly to return my dvds, but when I got back, I had to stand on the front porch for awhile and take it in.
And then, I went inside and had a hot shower, put on my cosy flannel pyjamas, and I am just about to make a hot chocolate and watch my favourite tv show. Could life get any better?
Of course, I probably won't be singing this tune in February, when I am suffering from S.A.D. , have a sore back from shoveling out the driveway, and salt marks on all my boots from the stupid trucks, but for now, I will enjoy the bliss of the first few days of real winter.

Yes I'm sure children LOVE to shovel thier driveway rolleyes Then again I might be biased thanks to my country upbringing which meant our driveway was really a road in disguise! Oh how I loathed that treachurous path in the winter time. Then again, all that shoveled snow made for an awesome cushion when I jumped off the roof for fun. Yes, fun till the top of the snow iced over! My back still achs at the thought.

As for loving the begining of winter... I would love it as well if it wern't for drivers "adjusting" to the new enviroment.

On a compleatly unrelated matter, How does it feel now southern ontario! You mocked the north for too long and now karma will have it's way with you like a cheap hooker who just got paid a thousand dollars.

I'm not sure what you are talking about - karma? Are we in a giant snow/hail/icestorm? NooooOOOOoo. Instead, we have lovely zero degree weather, a light dusting of fluffy flakes and sunshiney afternoons. May I dare say...it's the perfect winter weather?

Now, I am aware that I shouldn't be too cocky, for we do get our share of storms, just remember back to 1977. Oh, wait, you wouldn't remember back to then. YOU DIDN"T EXIST! Well, the White Death was a dandy of a storm, but that was nearly 30 years ago now.
I definitely do agree with you about the drivers, but I can put up with a few annoying drivers to make up for the beautiful weather.

You lucky lucky woman! The weather actually isn't to bad at the moment. Overcast but still warm but the thought of snow will comfort me on christmas day when no doubt the sun will be glaring, the wind dusty and hot. trying to keep the kids hydrated so they don't fall pray to sunstoke and desperately trying to stay as far away from the bbq as possible lol.
But seriously, just once I'd love to have a white Christmas, it must be one of the most beautiful things to see. Looking out from a cosy firelight loungeroom and watching beautifly icy flakes of snow falling to the ground and gently covering everything in sight. Like a beautiful dress that mother earth clothes herself in to show the world that even when se is sleeping she can still create a miracle.....
Ooops, sorry, went off on a whole daydream there lol. Anyway, merry Christmas and enjoy your snow smile

Silver, I'm still trying to figure out how to send you some snow, and when someone successfully invents a way to do so, that will be my Christmas gift to you.
