Katrina was incredibly tired, what with spending five hours on a typically half-hour assignment, and not being able to fall asleep. What in the world was wrong with her. She often found herself staring off into space, reliving that one moment with Gallin over and over, ending up with a stupid grin on her face. For the fiftieth time this mornig she shook her head violently to try to straighten out her brain. It was just a boy!, she screamed in her head for the billienth time. How in the world would she keep her calm at school, and what if she ran into Gallin again? Deep breaths, one.....two......three "What would you like for breakfast?" "Aaaaaaah! Mom where did you come from. You can't sneak up on me like that." "I wasn't sneaking. What has gotten into you lately? I mean you were in your room yesterday for hours, you didn't eat much, and now you're paranoid. Here have some juice, maybe you're getting sick." Katrina's mom slid over a full glass of OJ, then went to the cabinet to pull out oatmeal for breakfast. Katrina yawned. "Are you sure your okay," her mom asked coming over to do the typical, useless forhead feel. "Yeah mom, I'm fine," Katrina replied, "I just didn't get a lot of sleep last night." "Do you need to stay home today honey. Maybe you should just stay home and rest." That would be great! Katrina thought. Then I wouldn't even have to worry about bumping into Gallin at all. She was just about to put on a "I'm not feeling well" face and tell her mom that maybe it was better if she stayed home. And maybe after a whole day she could bring her head down from the clouds. Then it hit her, popping her balloon. She had a group presentation due today in History, and there was no way to make it up. Katrina heaved a sigh of frustration then said, "No mom, I'm okay, really. I'll be fine going to school." She plastered on a smile of reassurance then headed off to her room to grab her school books. I will not make a fool of myself even in the slightest today she told herself firmly, wishing she had a guarantee on it.
