Shadows of Fear, Chapter 7
I blinked my eyes open, the sun shining down through the window and landing across my face. I sat up, yawned, and got dressed for the day.
As I was munching on my toast, Alex came down to the kitchen.
“So, you gonna go to the movie with me tonight?” He asked. I nodded since my mouth was full. He smiled and started to make himself some breakfast.
Around lunchtime, Sillie-chan emerged from her room to tell me that she had started tracking down John and was sure that she was close to his hide-out.
I was happy.
I was one step closer to saving my mom.

The afternoon passed by quickly since I was beating nearly everybody on the Gummi courses in Kingdom Hearts II.
Soon, it was almost time for the movie to start.
About half an hour before we had to leave, I went up to Sil’s room to get ready.
Once I was squeaky clean, I slid into a nicer pair of jeans (the ones I was wearing had the knees torn out), and a sky blue tee instead of a gray one. I put my necklace back on and looked at my reflection in the mirror. For once I had yet to put my hair into a ponytail. I stared at the mirror, deciding if I should keep it down or put it up, when my ear (which had been perfectly straight) began to droop. My face began to redden and I grabbed my brush and forced my hair into its usual ponytail. ‘There,’ I thought, tugging on my bangs. My ear straightened up a little as I continued to look at my reflection.
Someone knocked on the door.
“Hey, Sky? You ready?”
It was Alex.
“Yeah,” I said, slipping my wallet into my back pocket and opening the door. “You ready?”
“Yeah.”
“So how’re we gettin’ there?”
Alex just grinned and grabbed by hand. Everything went black and all of a sudden, we were at the theater.
“You okay?” He asked.
“I will be as soon as the room stops spinning,” I replied, putting a hand on my forehead.
Alex laughed. “C’mon,” he said, leading me to the candy counter. "What do you want?" He asked, looking over at me.
"I brought my own money, but, thanks anyways," I said, then stepped up to the counter. "I'll have a medium bucket of popcorn, a king sized bag of Skittles, and a medium Dr. Pepper." I took out my wallet and placed the money on the counter, looking over at Alex and smiling. "You want anything?"
He just stood there, staring at me.
"What?" I asked innocently. "I forgot to eat breakfast this morning." I took my stuff and stood off to the side and waited for Alex, sipping my pop.
"Can we sit towards the front?" I asked, smiling as he walked over.
"Sure," he said, smiling too. We made our way to the front of the theater and sat in the third row from the front. I put my pop in the cup holder and handed the popcorn to Alex. "If I hold this, it'll be gone before the movie even starts." I settled into the seat and munched on Skittles as the movie started.
Fifteen minutes into the movie, Alex and I both reached into the popcorn bucket at the same time and accidentally grabbed each other's hand instead of popcorn.
I looked over at him, blushed, and took my hand out of the popcorn and stared at the screen for a while.
Halfway through the movie, I started to become a little more comfy.
And, without knowing what I was doing, my head rested on Alex’s shoulder.
I smiled, staring up at the screen, and all of a sudden…
“Uh, Sky?”
“Yeah?”
“Your head’s on my shoulder…”
I looked up at him, then quickly sat up straight, both of my ears drooping as I slid down in my seat, staring up at the screen and no where else. He laughed a little, but just continued to look up at the movie screen.
This time, though, I wasn’t very comfy through the rest of the movie.
The movie got over with, and everyone in the theater started filing out.
As soon as Alex and I were outside, he took my hand and teleported us both back to the Tower, in the hallway between our rooms.
“Well…I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?” I said, a hand on Sil’s doorknob.
“Okay,” Alex said, turning to go into his dad’s room.
“Hey, Alex?”
“Yeah?”
I bit my lower lip. “Thanks for taking me to the movies. It was fun.” I smiled, then opened the door to Sil’s room and stepped inside.
And, for once, I didn’t have a nightmare…
There was no shadow person…
It was just me and him…
The boy from the light…
