A few nights ago I simply watched the sunlight. No camera, no company, no motivation; I actually had a chance to just see it. A storm was blowing in as the last true golden rays of light slipped away an hour before pastel sunset claimed the skies. Framed against the intensity of shadowed clouds, the trees were etched in a silvery glow. Leaves dancing in the breeze caught every fragment of brightness and stood out against the impending dark of the horizon. A photographer’s dream of perfect light and shadow, here was a balance of shadows and time. Black and white and wind. But this was one sunset I wasn’t going to chase; I simply sat and breathed in the sunlight as it glittered on the branches overhead. My lungs seemed to fill with the joy of it all and the light trickled through me. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ve lost a stunning picture, but I’ve claimed a moment of my own instead
