• tab tab I looked briefly up at the sky so I could show Anna that I was listening to her. All she ever talked about were things that she were interested in. It gave me a headache just to listen to her. So my ideaology was to always look to where she was pointing and to tune her out. In this case, she was pointing towards the moon. I frowned. It was hidden by smoky clouds and the light of the moon made them glow around the edges. I looked off into the distance. No one was coming out of thye woods yet. There had been a couple of wolves howling but putting that aside it had been starangely quiet. Besides the innesential chattering Anna was doing. I bit my lip nervously. They were suppossed to be out by now. Anna asked me a question and I told her that that I agreed with her.
tab "Aimie!"yelled Anna in a high pitched voice.
    tab "What?"I snapped.
tab "You're not even listening to me."
tab I frowned. "Of course I am."
tab "No, you were not. I asked if we should go in there after them."
tab "Yeah and I agreed with your idea."
tab "So, are you going to go?"
tab I stared at her."Why not 'we'?"
tab "I'm not going in there on the full moon. You know that I am very superstitous. Besides, we both heard wolves howling."
tab "And you should know that they don't exist. And the wolves shouldn't even be in this area."
tab "Doesn't that make you worried?"
tab I looked at her features and realized for the first time that she actually belived in monsters. Her wide eyes stared at me in surprise as I announced that I was going in. "I have to go get them. It's my fault that they're in there in the first place."
tab She swallows nervously. "Good luck."
tab I walked away without answering. The woods seem to be darker than I realized. I would go back but then I would have to put up with her constant information about vampires and werewolves. I followed a small stream and constantly glanced around for the usage of flashlights. By the time I had hit the clearing, I realized that they could of left without us knowing. My brow knitted in frusturation and I headed on my way back. I stopped. A dark shadow flitted across the trees. I spun around to keep my eye on it but it dissapeared into the mesh of dark trees. My heart pounded. I wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans. My eye caught the dark shape again as it lunged at me. I screamed. I was quickly pulled to the side and pushed down a hole in the base of the tree.
tab "Be quiet!"hissed the quiet voice of Jason.
    tab "Where's Michael?"I whispered.
    tab "He got away."
    tab "Got away? From who?"
    tab "The wolves."
tab "Wolves? In these woods?"I said doubtfully.
tab "That's what I thought. By the way, I don't think your wallet was worth this."
tab "My wallet was going to give us money."
tab "Why can't you ever be more responsible? It gets tiresome that you tend to lose everything and then I have to go find it."
tab "You're the one that volunteered. I never said that youn had to. I could of done it myself,"I hissed.
    tab "Tell that to Michael."
tab "Yeah, well, he doesn't seem to think that anyone is capable of anything but himself. Which leads me to a question. Where is Michael, exactly?"
tab He laughed softly to himself. "Probably still in the forest."
tab We reamined silent for about a hour. I turned to him. "Do you think it's safe to come out now?"
    tab "Yeah."
tab We both climb out and made our way safely out of the woods. I looked around. Anna wasn't anywhere in sight. Not that I blamed her. She'd probably think a vampire was going to meat her or something. "I guess I'll see you later."
    tab He nods. "Yeah."
tab I watched him walk off to his car before I started to walk home. Luckily, my house was about two blocks from the woods.
tab "You're home early,"said my mother. Father glanced at me, smiled, then went back to the movie he was watching.
tab "I was getting tired of being outside. It was getting cold."
tab My mother nods. "Well, then. Goodnight, honey."
tab "Goodnight." I made my way up to my bedroom and sat on the edge of my bed. I wanted to know if Michael was alright. If I came that close to dying in the woods, I wondered if Michael would be that lucky. I walked over to my window which overlooks the woods. It would of been easier getting home if I cut through it but who would want to do that after they almost got eaten by a wolf?
tab I sighed and opened my window to let the frsh air in. A wolf howled in the distance followed by a chorus of howling. A chill ran down my spine and I scrambled under the covers. I didn't go to sleep that night.
