• tab The wind that blew was cold and had a bitter bite as it stung the young child's rosy cheeks. "Mommy!" The young girl cried, her shout lost in the wind. The girl's silvery blonde hair was tangled and had bits of leaves. Her silver eyes spat tears down her cheeks. "Mommy!" Again the wind carried the shout away but another heard it. A more motherly animal could not be found and the shout reminded her of her own little pup, lost to a bull moose in a tragedy. She jerked out of her den and tore off towards the child.
tab The little girl's screams tore at the wolf's heart and when the child turned out to be human, she shrugged it out of her mind and gently nudged the girl towards her den. The girl, not knowing where her mother was and freezing, obliged. She whimpered a few times and tripped over her overlong shift. Finally when the odd pair reached the den, the girl was immensly tired and curled up with her tiny hand wrapped in the wolf's soft gray pelt. Her eyes closed and she fell asleep, her mother's face weaving in and out of her dreams.

    10 Years Later

tab A howl rent the calm midnight hours as a mother wolf and her cubs hunted. The full moon was hovering just over the edge of the tall trees and bathed the forest with a clear silver light. The light revealed a tall wolfish girl about 15 years of age. Her long hair was bleached silver in the moonlight and her eyes were shadowed. She was amazingly beautiful, but there was a dangerous edge surrounding the beauty. She ran with the wolves, feet blurred and hair flying. A grin lit her face as she paused, chest barely heaving, and sat down on the soft ground.
