• Chapter 1
I walked into the labroom we used for Chemistry. I knew something had changed. There's a new-girl. Woohoo... I thought, and I rolled my eyes.
She was sitting at my lab table in the back row, next to my seat, where no one else ever sits. People liked to give me my space but I was pretty sure most of the girls would've died to sit next to me. I was annoyed at this new girl for a second, but as I started to walk to my seat, I looked at her. She was the most beautiful teenage girl I'd ever seen.
Mr. Darty, our teacher, said, "Oh, class! We have a new student here today. Her name is Kiaret Cloza. Sebastian, do you mind if she sits next to you?"
Heh. "Of course not." I said, looking at Kiaret again. She had black hair flowing way past her shoulders, with glimmering red mixed in only visible near the tips. Her eyes were intense lavender, surrounded by thick black eyelashes, and she sat up straight with perfect posture.
As I sat down I said, "Hey Kiaret."
"Hello Sebastian," she smiled at me then looked down. She was shy. Her skin was pale but her cheeks had a soft pink in them that made her look adorable. I smiled at her and Mr. Darty turned off the lights and started class. We were taking notes from a power point so he stood next to the projector and explained everything as we wrote it down, doodled, or texted each other.
On one page in my notebook I wrote "hi." I gave it to Kiaret and she read it. Below it she wrote:

    Hi!

I took it back from her and decided I needed to start a conversation so we could get past saying hi.

I'm Sebastian. But I'm sure you already knew that.

Yes, I did. And I'm Kiaret.

Yep. Hey, I love the color of your eyes.

Oh, thanks... I like yours, too.

Well, this is kind of awkward... So where did you live before you moved here?

Um sorry, I'm not supposed to say. Have you ever lived anywhere else?

Nope, I've lived in my house here forever. So where do you live now?

I think the street is called Mission Avenue, but I don't know for sure. My address is 1673. I live with my little brother, Soni.

Hey, that's awesome! I live across the street and like two houses down from you. I live at 1664. Yours is that blue house with the purple shutters, right? My little sister and I always used to go down there. The owner was friends with our grandpa and he was never home anyway... so we always went and explored his house. You're really lucky. That house has a laundry shoot. lol

Aww. That's cute. There aren't very many boys anymore who like to spend time with their sisters. What's her name?

She's Cassie. And she's 11. How old is your brother?

Soni is 11, too. And I am 17.

So am I. Alright... I think class is almost over, so... do you want to hang out after school? I just have to go to football practice first.

Sure. I don't know anyone else here yet anyway. (:

The bell rang. I took back my notebook and winked at her. She smiled and stood up and stretched. She was wearing a checkered purple and black blouse, dark, black skinny cords, a black belt around her waist, and a purple pocket watch around her neck where you push the part on the top and it pops open.
"See you later, Sebastian," Kiaret said. She walked out of the room. I asked my friend Nick if we got any homework. All he did before he walked away was shake his head and laugh.
