Maria, Lin – Lin, Brownie, and Rin – Rin were all working in the same company right now, but this isn’t any old company, it’s a company that destroys the demons that interfere with them or the life surrounding them in Emerald Square.
Brownie looked at Maria as they drove through the streets to meet up with the other company to sign the contract to become one big company but sighed and turned her face to look outside. Let’s see how much fun this shall be, thought Brownie but was interrupted in her thoughts when out of nowhere Maria reminded Brownie once again “So the plan is to get in, get them to sign the contract, and get out.” She said with a slight nod of her head. Brownie nodded in agreement, “Yeah, that’s the plan.” Brownie replied as she swiftly stepped out of the car into the fresh air.
Maria and Brownie walked into the board room, just to find Shadow and Fire waiting for them. As Maria saw who was there she screamed, but then cut herself short. “Hey! You, you’re the one who cut me off this morning when I was heading to work.” Maria yelled at him but then tried to lower her voice at the end. Shadow smirked like he just played the best joke there is, “So you’re the girl who doesn’t know how to drive.” He replied to what she said. He paused for a moment before talking once again. “I can teach you if you like.” Shadow told Maria as the smirk stretched across his face.
Maria rolled her eyes, “You do know I’m just here to sign the thingy and get out, so please sign so I may leave.” She said trying her hardest not to yell but stay calm instead. She watched as the smile on Shadow’s face just continued to grow larger, “No.” He pushed the papers away, “I don’t think I will.” He responded with a chuckle. Maria’s eyes glared madly at him, her sunglasses laying upon her head. She walked gracefully to where the other hedgehog was sitting. She placed her hands on the table, her eyes at the same level of Shadow’s. “I’ll ask kindly once again, please sign the papers.” She said each word slowly.
Shadow didn’t say anything for a few moments, for he seemed to be in another world. But then he blinked once, snapping himself out of his trance as he pushed her away. “Woah, personal space little girl.” Shadow told her as he stood up.
Maria’s eyes seemed to glow with anger, “That’s it!” She yelled angrily and reached out, trying to choke the guy. But quick as can be, Shadow jumped back, which started a race between the two of them. Brownie and Fire were still sitting at the table, and seemed to be shaking their heads in shame at their friend. As the two continued to chase each other Fire told Brownie, “You should tell your friend over there to stop. You don’t know what Shadow’s capable of.” He warned
Brownie sighed, Oh good to know, “She thought but replied by saying, “I say you shouldn’t talk. Maria too is capable of many things; she can be nice, funny, and caring….” She paused for a moment with a quick laugh as Brownie continued, “Anger her, well, let’s just say she’s the total opposite of that.” And then the two of them went back to watching what seemed to be the never ending chase.
At last Maria caught, and convinced, Shadow to sign all the paperwork. As the two ladies were about to leave Brownie turned around, “How rude of us not to ask what your names may be.” Fire exchanged looked with Shadow but he was the first to answer, “Prince Fire Galaxy, the wolf cat. But you of course call me Fire.” Sounds like Lin – Lin, Maria thought with a slight nod of her head as he finished speaking. She then turned to the other hedgehog. “Shadow the Hedgehog. But I would like it if you call me Shadow….What are your names?” He asked.
“The name is Brownie, Shadow, and the last of my family.” She answered as she turned her head toward her friend, Maria, as she waited for her to answer. Maria sighed, “Maria Robotnik the hedgehog…Who was sadly dead but happily brought back to life as a hedgehog.” She said walking away, grabbing Brownie’s shirt and dragged her out back to their car outside.
The drive back to work was unusually quiet. Maria was listening to “New Divide” on her iPod while Brownie on the other hand was peacefully reading Witchcraft. As they got to work they swiftly went to the top floor where Lin – Lin and Rin - Rin were waiting. As soon as they were in sight Lin – Lin rushed over to them, “How was the meeting?” She didn’t hesitate to ask. “Uh….” Was all Maria said angrily and then teleported to the rooftop. “I suggest not asking.” Brownie said sitting on the couch. “I’ll go talk to her.” Lin – Lin said getting up to get her scythe and heading upwards to the roof top.
Lin – Lin reached the rooftop to find Maria seeming so peaceful as she looked out at the horizon. “Maria…” She didn’t start talking again until she sat down beside her, “You saw him didn’t you.” She softly said. “Yeah, I did see him, but I can’t remember everything about him!” Maria said slowly. A few moments later they saw Brownie telling them a demon was attacking, and a small grin formed on Lin – Lin’s face. “Well I know one thing that will take your mind off of him, Demon Killing!” Lin – Lin said as Maria grabbed her hand and teleported to two of them back to the headquarters.
The moment the two of them landed in the headquarters Brownie asked, “So what type of demon is it this time?” Brownie asked as she took a seat in a chair. “Well it’s a spider demon but you will be helping the Dusk team.” Amy, another person who worked at the company, told them. And then suddenly, out of nowhere, Star came with a very exhausted Blaze.
