• Water or earth? I ask this question every morning, but the answer is still the same....I don't know!

I'm what is known as a Flower Maiden, beings made of an earth and water combination. We are rare and not really well known. I guess that is partly because it is not good to be a flower maiden. A maiden is what one would call a female water person and a flower is a name for the female earth being, and since the males go first when it comes to titles when the tribes are different, I became a Flower Maiden, good thing my father was not the water controller because I would not like to be called a Maiden Flower! Well, like I said it's not good to be one of us "mixed breeds." It's because we are not just one part of either element and can't do everything that most in each tribe can. There are some of the mixed that can't breathe under water and some that can only breathe under water, really weird.

Most people that I have meet don't seem to care about all that right now because I'm too young to do much good any, not that I have found anything I can't do yet. But I love the earth too, so I'm not sure what to go with. I have to choose on my thirteenth birthday, which is coming up soon, just a few months. After I choose I will never be able to return to the other and then I will start my training. I just don't know what to give up!

"BEE!" a sweet, but stern, voice came loudly from below.
OH! "Coming, Mab!" I returned. Mab is a word that is used to call my mum, even though she would not always like me to call her this. She is the queen, the Mab, therefore I have most always called her that.
I swam to the floor my mother was at, “I told you that you needed to be ready by now Bee. You never listen.” My mum spoke before I could even make it over to her. I looked down ashamed “ Sorry Mab!” With a slight sign she tuned and said turning her head back at me “ Oh, Beadress, you can make me such a pushover with that face!” she smiled and we began to swim out the door to meet up with my father.
