Past These Shadows Is More Doubt

In this dungeon filled with darkness
I am surrounded by lonliness
The only light I seek
Is from the moon that takes a cautious peek

Into my world of unfairness and sorrow
Living on, hoping to see a brighter tomorrow
To just be disappointed at what I see
And keep on hoping for what would never be

Staring into darkness, seeking what I'll never find
This seclusion is starting to mess with my mind
I'm marking lines on the wall day by day
Five, now ten lines mark my stay

It seems like forever I've been in this cell
Like I'm falling down an endless well
Anticipating the foreboding waters below
Hoping that they will never know

Never notice the reasons beneath my cries
Or why my smiles never reach my eyes
Tears fall and they'll never know why
How or why I cry.
